About the role
At Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, the Bartender provides Residence Club Owners, guests and servers with quick and efficient beverage service with a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar. The Bartender creates and innovates drink recipes and maintains a well-rounded beverage menu and ensures consistency in drink preparation.

What you will do:

  • Must have complete working knowledge of the menu items and their ingredients and preparation.

  • Greet Owners and guests promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture.

  • Read and listen to Owners and guests therefore determining beverage preferences, making recommendations, taking and confirming orders, noting any special needs or requests from servers using Micros, and check completed orders with the guests’ original order.

  • Support Food and Beverage management with planning of beverage menus including cocktails, wine, craft beer, and non-alcoholic offerings and assist in developing new cocktail recipes & specials as needed.

  • Selecting and mixing of ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to guests as ordered.

  • Handle all monies and keep accurate bank float from the Residence Club.

  • Requisition, pick up, verify, and stock liquor, wine, beer, juices, soft drinks, and food items used for the bar areas in the storeroom/coolers/bar.

  • Complete bar inventory with Food and Beverage Manager, Purchasing Manager, and Assistant Director of Finance.

  • Cut fruit and prepare beverage garnishments daily.

  • Ensure all Micros payments are processed timely, accurately, and correctly while maintaining guest confidentiality.

  • File closing paperwork in proper folders; this includes the sorting of checks by payment types and dates of transactions and reporting all lost checks (including walk outs and voids) immediately to a Food and Beverage manager.

  • Maintain the bar area neat and tidy; clearing dishes and glassware, and continuously sanitizing all surfaces, point of sale systems, store’n pours, liquor bottles, liquor pour tops, beer taps, and dishwasher.

  • Always practice responsible alcohol service in accordance with state/local laws. Address potential intoxicated disruptive or undesirable guests.

  • Respond properly in any Residence Club emergency or safety situation.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned or necessary by Residence Club management.

What you bring:

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language

  • 1-2 years bartending and/or related food and beverage serving experience

  • Excellent knowledge of wines, spirits and mixed drinks

  • CPR certification

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Responsible Beverage Service certification and San Diego County Food Handlers (not required upon hire)
