The AVP, Risk, Capital Solutions is a key member of the Risk Management team, reporting to the PL Re CRO. In this position, you will play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by overseeing the implementation of risk management policies and standards within PL Re. You will be responsible for implementation of the Risk Management Framework across the Capital Solutions line of business. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and own risk management framework elements relating to the Capital Solutions business
  • Support the execution of the Division’s strategy and key initiatives as a member of the Capital Solutions Executive Committee
  • Develop and mature the Capital Solutions Risk Appetite framework.
  • Provide expert advice and support to division leadership and other senior managers on risk-related matters.
  • Proactively coordinate with other experts across the Enterprise
  • Set the tone for an appropriate ethical and risk culture by demonstrating appropriate behaviours in decision-making
  • Monitor the evolution of the division’s risk profile and drive alignment with PL’s risk appetite and limits
  • Conduct risk reviews and provide risk oversight for major transactions and material projects 
  • Collaborating with other teams within the company to ensure that Capital Solutions strategies are aligned with the company’s overall risk management framework.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant professional qualification, with 10+ years’ experience in life (re)insurance or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and their implementation.
  • Experience with economic capital models and actuarial processes, including assumptions and modelling.
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments and financial reporting standards.
