Role Summary/Purpose:
The AVP, Quality Engineer III - Digital Servicing is a technical specialist and automation subject matter expert responsible for driving automation excellence and reusability within the DSE India Mobile organization. This role focuses on developing and evolving automation frameworks, establishing BDD standards, and enabling shift-left testing practices across mobile platforms. This engineer serves as the technical expert on automation tooling, mentors QE team members, and ensures automation aligns with product roadmap and engineering goals in a cross-shore agile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and maintain automation guidelines including standards for BDD and Gherkin syntax quality
Develop and evolve automation frameworks ensuring modularity, scalability, and reusability
Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated test execution and reporting
Serve as technical expert on automation tooling, debugging, and performance optimization
Lead and grow the automation SME pipeline by coaching QE team members in test automation
Integrate mocking tools such as Wiremock to enable shift-left testing and faster feedback loops
Build and maintain shared automation libraries and tools across mobile teams
Collaborate with architects to ensure automation aligns with tech stack evolution
Drive adoption of automation best practices across iOS and Android platforms
Develop and maintain end-to-end, integration, and API automation test suites
Ensure automation coverage targets are met across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
Partner with development teams to enable in-sprint automation and shift-left testing
Troubleshoot and optimize test execution performance in cloud and on-premise environments
Contribute to test data management strategies and service virtualization initiatives
Document automation frameworks, guidelines, and best practices for team adoption
Participate in QE community initiatives and knowledge sharing sessions
Support defect triaging and root cause analysis with automation insights
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Bachelor’s Degree with 4+ years relevant experience in Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience in information Technology.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering processes and automation
Strong programming knowledge in frameworks like Appium/Selenium, Cucumber, and Gherkin
Experience in GUI, API/Webservices, and Database automation testing
Experience preparing automation frameworks with parallel execution integrated with CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Swift with strong object-oriented programming concepts
Experience with mobile-specific testing frameworks such as XCTest, Espresso, and Appium
Strong understanding of BDD methodology and Gherkin syntax standards
Experience with test reporting and dashboard tools
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SAFe principles
Experience with version control systems such as Git and Bitbucket
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired Skills & Knowledge
Experience testing mobile applications using microservices architecture and cloud-based technologies
Experience with service virtualization, test data management, and containerization
Experience with Wiremock or similar mocking tools for API virtualization
Experience with mobile CI/CD platforms like Bitrise and CloudBees/Jenkins
Experience with contract testing and API schema validation
Familiarity with observability tools like New Relic, Splunk, and Cloudwatch
Experience preparing POCs for latest testing tools and trends
Knowledge of performance testing tools and methodologies
Understanding of accessibility testing and compliance requirements
Experience with security scanning and InfoSec compliance processes
Experience with financial services applications and regulatory compliance
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in distributed team environments
Excellence in technical communication with technical and non-technical peers
Ability to mentor and coach team members on automation best practices
Strong documentation skills for frameworks, guidelines, and playbooks
Eligibility Criteria:
Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years relevant experience in Information Technology, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of relevant experience in information Technology.
Work Timings: 2PM - 11PM IST
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
