At Partsource, the AVP of Field Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence, profitability, and customer satisfaction across a national network of retail stores. This role involves overseeing multiple store locations and managing a large sales team nationwide, covering field operations, logistics, budget oversight, store labour planning, inventory planning, margin management, loss prevention and real estate planning. Additionally, it includes leading an operations team at the head office and District Managers to leverage financial reports and key performance indicators, providing operational support and ensuring business continuity. Identifying growth opportunities in new markets through detailed analysis and recommendations for expansion is also key. The role provides leadership and direction, fostering a high-performance team environment and ensuring resources are aligned with strategic goals. The AVP partners closely with merchandising, supply chain, and commercial sales teams to deliver best-in-class automotive aftermarket solutions.
What you’ll do:
Effectively communicate strategic direction and performance expectations to all store and sales teams.
Develop and execute operational strategies to achieve sales, margin, and service goals across multiple regions and stores. Align store operations with corporate objectives, ensuring compliance with brand standards and regulatory requirements.
Closely monitor and analyze key business metrics (e.g., Sales, Employee Development, engagement, Customer Service, labour productivity, Expenses, Shrink, Compliance, and Training) at the national level and initiate appropriate actions as needed. Manage regional budgets, forecast sales and expenses, and deliver on profitability targets.
Work with the field teams to deliver across 3 sales channels including retail customers, B2B commercial customers and fostering trade relations with Canadian Tire Dealer network
Foster a culture of consistent execution within the foundational success factors strategy, ensuring those standards are effectively communicated and upheld.
Partner with senior management to: Identify business opportunities and communicate accordingly (Marketing, Purchasing, Real Estate, supply chain, HR).
Contribute to the overall business planning process and setting national business goals. Understand the automotive aftermarket landscape and react accordingly.
Assist in the development and execution of new programs
Facilitate the introduction, integration, and ongoing reinforcement of Partsource’s leadership brand to all team members.
In conjunction with Human Resources, ensure regional teams are staffed appropriately, reflective of our brand positioning, and always in a position to maximize seasonal business opportunities. The AVP must focus on identifying future talent at all levels and creating development opportunities for future leaders.
Create an environment where new concepts, categories, and other business initiatives can be executed with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Ensure adherence to safety, loss prevention, and quality standards.
Recruit, coach, and mentor District Managers and Store Managers to build strong leadership pipelines.
Drive engagement and retention through performance management and succession planning.
Partner with Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Commercial Sales to optimize product availability and service delivery.
What you bring:
Extensive knowledge of the retail industry gained through 10+ years of progressively responsible roles.
Minimum 10+ years of experience managing multi-region or national territories with a focus on people leadership.
Proven track record as a strong leader with extensive experience developing management talent.
Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels, delegate responsibilities, and execute strategic initiatives.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence results on a national scale.
Highly self-motivated with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Ability to travel extensively across assigned regions.
Ability to communicate in the French language is considered an asset.
Strong customer focus with an emphasis on building and sustaining relationships and high-performing teams.
Proven track record for achieving targets and delivering on strategic objectives.
automotive aftermarket experience strongly preferred.
Post-secondary education in business is an asset.
