General Summary:

The AVP, Field Digital Engagement & Growth, is a strategic leader focused on driving and advancing the growth and adoption of Colonial Life’s digital solutions. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of CL field roles and structure as well as Benefits Technology HR/Benefits/Payroll methodologies and supporting systems.

This role will lead a high-performing team responsible for driving adoption of Colonial Life’s digital solutions across the country. This strategic leadership role will focus on scaling technology sales efforts, deepening field, broker, and customer engagement, and aligning digital solution strategies with national business goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the national strategy for benefits technology sales and go-to-market activity, aligning with corporate objectives and field sales priorities.
  • Partner with senior leadership to shape the future of Colonial Life’s digital ecosystem and go-to-market approach.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of high-impact sales tools, training, and messaging to support field and broker engagement.
  • Ensure consistent execution of solution selling strategies across regions, leveraging deep knowledge of benefits technology platforms.
  • Drive adoption and growth of Colonial Life Connect, Gathr, and other digital offerings through strategic partnerships and consultative selling.
  • Serve as a national spokesperson and thought leader for Colonial Life’s digital capabilities in field, broker, customer, and industry forums.
  • Increase visibility in marketplace as a technology leader, seek opportunities to build our reputation in the media and market.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with top national and regional brokers, technology sales teams, and platform partners.
  • Monitor competitive trends and market dynamics to inform product positioning and sales strategies.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track team effectiveness and solution adoption.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, and field leadership to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Lead rollout of new technology programs and partnerships, ensuring readiness and impact across all markets.
  • Using experience and strong data analysis, this leader heavily influences the market growth strategy, making recommendations of innovative actions needed to impact results in long term and profitable top line growth.
  • Ability to take a data-driven approach to influence focus and content of field education/training efforts.
  • Effective leadership in a variety of market development accountabilities, including budget planning, staffing and training coordination, and overall planning and execution for key events.
  • Travel frequently to field offices and events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in technology sales, consulting, or business development within HCM, SaaS, or employee benefits industries.
  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing sales or consulting teams.
  • Deep understanding of benefits technology platforms, HRIS systems, and broker distribution models.
  • Proven ability to make sound business decisions and deliver results.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills – both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Skilled in uniting a team under a shared vision, collaboration, influencing and motivating each member with and without authority.
  • Experience successfully working in a metrics driven environment required.
  • Ability to build and use data-driven reports to inform recommendations and highlight areas of opportunity.
  • Ability to travel frequently as needed

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$114,100.00-$215,700.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.  All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
