Nasdaq

AVP - Data Operations

United Kingdom - London Full time

The Role
Nasdaq's Capital Access Platforms (CAP) division is seeking a transformative leader to join our Data Platform & Operations team as the AVP of Data Operations. This is a newly created, strategic role designed to centralize and evolve three distinct data operations teams into a unified, world-class function.
The Data Platform & Operations team is the engine that enables our product portfolio, building the tools and operational functions that allow CAP to bring new products to market with greater agility and lower cost. This AVP will be at the heart of that mission, tasked with integrating our Omni, Data Solutions, and Index Operations teams.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant change management initiative, shaping the future of data operations for a global leader in financial technology. If you are a strategic, hands-on leader passionate about building high-performing teams and driving operational excellence, we invite you to apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Integrate three legacy data operations teams, fostering a unified culture and a "one team" mindset focused on delivering against a shared strategic vision.
  • Lead, inspire, and manage a global team of approximately 215 operations professionals (FTEs and contractors) through five direct-report managers.
  • Develop and implement a "single pane of glass" metrics framework, creating a unified set of dashboards to measure operational capacity, identify bottlenecks, and align resources with strategic priorities.
  • Drive a complex change management program to evolve the teams from siloed, subject-matter experts into a dynamic and versatile team focused on acquiring, creating, and curating best-of-industry content and datasets.
  • Partner closely with product, technology, and business leaders across the CAP division to ensure operational readiness, manage priorities, and proactively address challenges and blockers.
  • Formulate and execute a long-term strategy for the team's organizational structure and operational model to support Nasdaq's future growth and data platform vision.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong preference for a background in investment management, FinTech, or financial data services industry.
  • Demonstrated, deep experience in leading, centralizing, and evolving data operations teams, preferably through a significant transformation.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL or similar data querying languages and a strong understanding of modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks).
  • Proficiency with BI and dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to create insightful operational and executive-level metrics.
  • Strong grounding in Agile methodology and its application to data operations.
  • Practical knowledge of the full data lifecycle, from acquisition and quality control to delivery and governance.
  • Experience managing global, remote teams and developing senior managers.
