Role Summary/Purpose:   

The AVP, Analytics Metadata Developer (Individual contributor) within Synchrony’s Data Office will be responsible for supporting execution of the metadata management and data cataloging strategy for Synchrony. The individual will be reporting to the VP, Metadata Management and Data Sourcing Leader. 

This role will collaborate with business and IT leaders, data management process owners, and analytics stakeholders across Synchrony to support the ongoing enhancement and modernization of our metadata management capabilities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay current on Ab Initio product releases and industry trends, proactively proposing enhancements that improve outcomes for our stakeholders 

  • Provide knowledge transfer, coaching, and implementation guidance to team members to promote consistent patterns, standards, and best practices 

  • Support evaluation and development of forward-looking metadata capabilities, including enablement for cloud, AI/ML, and other emerging use cases (e.g., semantic metadata, tagging, and discoverability) 

  • Contribute to root cause analysis and remediation of data issues related to our metadata platforms and/or processes 

  • Partner with data governance, engineering, and analytics stakeholders to ensure metadata quality, lineage completeness, and consistent adoption of platform capabilities 

  • Create and maintain operational runbooks and support documentation to enable consistent operations, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance by the broader team 

  • Execute thorough functional and non-functional testing, and remediate defects to ensure enhancements meet performance, security, and reliability expectations 

  • Implement platform changes (e.g., metadata models, configurations, integrations, automation, and workflows) in accordance with established Agile and change management practices 

  • Produce clear, scalable solution designs for enhancements, prioritizing simplicity, reusability, and long-term supportability 

  • Elicit, document, and validate requirements for assigned platform enhancements, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and stakeholder needs 

  • Identify and recommend platform improvement opportunities that increase usability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability 

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Synchrony’s current metadata platform implementation, including configurations, integrations, and operational processes 

Qualifications/Requirements:

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or in lieu of a Bachelor Degree, a minimum of 11 years as described.

•    Minimum of 7 years of work experience to include:

  • 7 years of Ab Initio Metadata Hub development, including technical design, coding / implementation and ongoing support

  • 7 years of experience with Agile methodology and tools

  • 7 years of relevant data management / governance or project/program management experience

  • Experience within  Financial Services industry

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration and drive consensus across stakeholder groups

  • Experience using Agile and SAFE Agile methodologies

  • Ability to direct technical teams and mentor/coach team members

  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication and leadership abilities

  • Credit card domain knowledge is desired

  • Experience working in financial services in the credit card domain is desired in particular

Eligibility Criteria:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and 7 years of Ab Initio Metadata Hub development, including technical design, coding / implementation and ongoing support; or in lieu of a Bachelor Degree, a minimum of 11 years as described

Work Timings: 2 PM to 11 PM IST

This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs)
