Assistant Vice President (AVP) – Access C&E 

Role Overview 

The AVP – Access C&E is responsible for managing and directing the planning, design, construction, and optimization of wireless & wireline network infrastructure within a designated region. This senior leader provides expert engineering guidance, leads multidisciplinary teams, ensures compliance with all industry and company standards, coordinates with both internal and external stakeholders, and drives adoption of advanced technologies and continuous improvement initiatives to support business goals and operational excellence.  This role also includes a critical interface and partnership with internal product, P&L, sales, and marketing teams to collaborate in planning and penetrating the deployed fiber and wireless assets for revenue growth. 

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the Alpharetta, GA location. Relocation is offered.

Key Responsibilities 

• Customer Experience – lead the team to a customer first culture with a deep analytical & AI led approach to fiber led network extended by 5G, WiFi, and/or satellite connectivity. The leader is expected to be able to lead subject matter experts into deep inspection of the advanced connectivity network 

• Network Planning & Design - Lead the planning, design, installation, and optimization of access infrastructure, both wireline and wireless. 

• Project Management - Oversee full lifecycle management of projects, from inception to completion. Coordinate with vendors for access builds, manage schedules, resources, and budgets, and integrate fiber and mobility builds to ensure seamless deployment. 

• Team Leadership & Development - Mentor and develop a high-performing team of engineers and technicians. Manage strategic relationships and lead vendor negotiations. 

• Compliance & Standards - Ensure all construction and engineering activities meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal company policies. 

• Cross-functional Coordination & Expertise - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Provide expert engineering support, and champion the implementation of advanced technologies and process improvements. 

• Environmental Compliance - Oversee and contribute to compliance with environmental laws and regulations, including those related to fuel tanks, generators, hazardous materials, construction projects, and emissions. 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

• 10+ years of relevant experience in network engineering, construction, or telecommunications. 

• Demonstrated experience leading large teams, including supervisors and senior staff. 

• Strong background in wireless & wireline infrastructure and engineering. 

• Proven track record in project management, budget oversight, and vendor coordination. 

• Knowledge of regulatory, industry, and environmental compliance requirements. 

• Excellent presenter and the ability to motivate the employee base to rally around the AT&T vision to deliver a seamless, converged, AI driven, low cost connectivity infrastructure.  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE). 

• Experience managing fiber and mobility builds in large-scale environments. 

• Familiarity with emerging technologies such as PON, 5G, Open RAN, WiFi, Satellite, AI and network virtualization. 

• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives in a large organization. 

• Demonstrated ability to influence hiring, promotions, and strategic decisions.

About The Department  

The Access C&E/RAN team is responsible for the design, construction, optimization, and advancement of the company’s wireless and wireline network infrastructure. Through technical expertise, innovation, and collaboration, the department delivers robust and reliable connectivity solutions that power next-generation services for customers and communities. 

Our AVP of Access Eng and Construction earns between$206,900k to $310,300k USD annually not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
