Boeing Global Services (BGS) is looking for an experienced Avionics Technician to join our NATO AWACS team in Geilenkirchen, Germany.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative and diverse team supporting NATO AWACS.  Team members will leverage their prior experience, and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.

Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work supporting advanced aircraft, Systems Integration Laboratories, parts, and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools, parts, and equipment required to ensure defect-free work.

Job details:

  • Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense

  • Schedule - 40h/ week

  • Please note the position is for a at least 12 months with possibility to extend

Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to apply technical knowledge to solve problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents

  • Understand the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments (high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment)

  • Perform aircraft bench and/or flight line operational testing and troubleshooting in accordance with manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives

  • Perform assembly, installation, check-out physical characteristics, operational testing and modification of wire bundles in the testing, development and modification of aircraft in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier and other directives

  • Consult management and peers to assess and determine efficient, first-time quality processes

  • Assist teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks

  • Ability to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects

  • Interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. to accomplish assigned work

  • Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures

  • Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to check dimensions and conformance to quality requirements

  • Ability to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.

  • Must be familiar with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and on the job performance

  • Assist other team members (General Mechanics, Structures, Electrics) to ensure cost/schedule targets are met

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience with aircraft and/or system integration laboratories

  • 3+ years of experience in working with specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures

  • 3+ years of experience with components, aircraft computer systems and wire installation: (repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems)

  • Existing rights to work in Germany

  • Fluent English

  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and overtime

  • This position requires the individual to hold an active GEHEIM (Secret) Increased level of protection security clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ideally hold a EASA/CAA B2 license or EASA/CAA B2L license or equivalent

  • Completion of degree or certification from a trade school

  • Experience with Boeing surveillance platforms

  • Experience working with COMSEC, Radar, or aircraft communications systems
