The Aviation Advisor plays a critical role in supporting Repsol’s global E&P operations by managing aviation-related risks associated with contractor-operated aircraft and aviation services. As aviation is classified as a Major Accident Hazard, this role is responsible for ensuring that aviation activities across business units, assets, and projects are conducted safely, in compliance with company standards, and aligned with regulatory and industry requirements. The Aviation Advisor provides subject matter expertise in aviation risk management, contractor oversight, safety assurance, and aviation technical support for logistics and procurement activities. The role partners closely with global business units, HSE teams, and contractors to strengthen aviation safety performance, standardization, and continuous improvement across diverse operating environments. Success in this role means reducing aviation risk exposure, strengthening contractor oversight, and enabling safe and efficient aviation operations across Repsol’s global portfolio.
Role Focus
Aviation risk management and contractor oversight
Global safety assurance, audits, and incident investigation
Technical advisory support for aviation logistics and procurement
Cross-business unit standardization and best practice sharing
Strategic improvement of aviation safety performance
Global collaboration across diverse environments
Classify aviation contracts and define technical and HSE requirements
Monitor contractor safety performance using KPIs
Conduct aviation safety audits and oversee third-party providers
Serve as SME in incident investigations and risk assessments
Assess risks for non-compliant aviation services and communicate to management
Perform assurance activities to evaluate compliance with aviation procedures
Develop strategies to improve aviation safety performance
Share lessons learned and best practices
Provide technical expertise for aviation service procurement and contract reviews
Participate in technical evaluations and advise on regulatory requirements
Assess aviation infrastructure such as helipads and airstrips
Advise on helicopter and offshore aviation operations
Support aircraft selection, performance optimization, and efficiency
Support logistics teams with aviation-related decisions
Partner with global business units and contractors to manage aviation risks
Support training and capability development initiatives
Promote consistent standards and best practices
Full U.S. work authorization without restrictions, conditions, or current/future sponsorship.
University degree in Aviation, Engineering, or related field
Helicopter pilot license required
Training in aviation accident investigation and human factors
5+ years commercial helicopter pilot or helicopter mechanic experience
5+ years aviation safety experience
5+ years Oil & Gas experience including offshore
Experience across diverse operating environments
Familiarity with aviation standards (OGP, HAC, HSAC)
Aviation safety and risk management expertise
Analytical thinking and sound judgment
Stakeholder management and influencing skills
Strong communication skills
Ability to deliver training and technical guidance
Collaborative mindset in multicultural environments
Office-based with hybrid flexibility
Significant international travel required
Exposure to global field environments
