Job Summary
Red Hat Ecosystem Engineering is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join the Telco Platform and Partner Workloads group. You will be part of a globally distributed team responsible for enabling the Telco partner ecosystem, driving adoption of Red Hat technologies and platforms, as well as promoting cloud computing best practices.

We are a development centric team focused on codifying industry and standard cloud computing best practices, developing the essential framework and tools to certify complex 5G Cloud-Native Network Function workloads for OpenShift, and developing telco features for the OpenShift Ecosystem. As a part of our team, you will collaborate with a wide variety of Red Hat development, solution architecture, and business units across CTO, Engineering, Customer Experience & Engagement, as well as directly with our strategic partners and open source communities. To be successful in this role, you will need to have motivation, curiosity, passion for problem solving, and knowledge in Containers, Kubernetes, open source software development, and Telecom technologies.

What you will do

  • Develop, maintain, support features and tools for the OpenShift telco solution ecosystem

  • Collaborate with Telco carrier partners to accelerate containerization of their systems and integration with the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP), to ensure best in class functionality, performance, and reliability for 5G and Edge Computing networks

  • Collaborate with Telecom equipment vendors to develop best practices, system integration and unit tests, CI/CD pipelines, plugins, tools, and processes to enable automated certification and ongoing validation of partner workloads

  • Collaborate with upstream open source communities, industry bodies, technology standard working groups

  • Work closely with platform engineering teams to troubleshoot, analyze bug root causes, and provide resolutions/recommendations

  • Work closely with certification and integration teams to improve and streamline partner onboarding experience

  • Work closely with the Quality Engineering (QE) team on positive and negative testing to ensure code, framework, documentation, APIs and commands are properly tested

  • Play an active role in daily scrum, standup meeting peer discussions and code reviews

What you will bring

  • Knowledge in Kubernetes and container technologies is a plus

  • Software development experience in a Linux/RHEL environment is a plus

  • Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies, standards and practices

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, able to effectively explain complex technical concepts and efficiently summarize information

The following are also considered a plus

  • Knowledge or experience in building CI/CD systems, Behavior Driven Development of test and automation frameworks, QE positive/negative testing, chaos engineering

  • Contribution in open source communities, active involvement in CNCF work groups

  • Knowledge of Telecom infrastructure and networks, 5G Core/RAN architecture & protocols, 3GPP standards, O-RAN, Mobile Edge Computing, SDN/NFV
