Red Hat

Associate Software Engineer – Automotive Platforms (Brno Office, Czech Republic)

Brno - Tech Park Brno - C Full time

The Red Hat Engineering teams are looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join our Automotive Platforms team to work on the core components and release systems for the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System (RHIVOS).
The Automotive Platforms team works closely with product development to ensure our software is reliable, secure, and delivered efficiently. As RHIVOS continues to scale, our focus is on modernizing software delivery, improving supply chain security, and integrating cutting-edge tools to support the future of automotive technology.

You will be responsible for supporting the end-to-end delivery of the platform. You will collaborate within the team to design, validate, and support updates to CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, and core OS builds.

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges and modernize our infrastructure. We'll need you to have a strong foundation in software engineering and a proactive mindset, as you'll be encouraged to adopt new technologies—including AI tools—to speed up development and automate workflows. This position is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on the stability, security, and compliance of a rapidly growing automotive operating system.

What you will do:

  • Core Platform & Release Management: Help build, maintain, and stabilize core parts of RHIVOS. Assist with version tracking and defining new releases (such as RHIVOS 2.0).
  • CI/CD & Supply Chain: Support the modernization of CI/CD pipelines and secure software supply chains, helping test and adopt tools like Konflux and manage artifact migrations (e.g., S3 to Pulp).
  • AI & Automation: Integrate AI-assisted tools into the development process to automate tasks, write performance testing scripts, and streamline code review and log analysis (e.g., Log Detective).
  • Security & Compliance: Assist with functional safety (FuSa) and security requirements by maintaining workflows for patches (errata), verifying build signatures, and mapping dependencies for easier debugging.

What you will bring:

  • Solid foundation in software engineering principles and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience applying programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, C, or Rust) to build systems, test automation, or enterprise projects.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release processes, and software supply chain security.
  • Ability to leverage AI-assisted development and validation tools to reduce manual effort.
  • Required Full English proficiency (verbal and written). Ability to work effectively with globally distributed teams.

The following are considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with functional safety (FuSa) standards or the automotive software industry.
  • Experience with artifact management tools or modern CI/CD frameworks.
  • Past experience collaborating with Open-Source communities or working on operating system-level packaging and delivery.
