What You’ll Be Doing

Global Credit Financing (GCF) is an asset financing and securitization business specializing in deal origination, asset financing, securitization structuring, and syndication of debt products for the Bank’s core clients. As a product vertical under the Global Markets Financing and Resource Management Group (GMF-RMG), GCF manages financial resources like capital and balance sheet within the Global Markets Division.

A successful candidate will syndicate and distribute structured finance securities including asset-backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) to investors.  The role operates in a fast-paced environment. The group’s mandate is to focus on activities that will help drive the growth of the GCF business in the US. 

How You’ll Succeed

  • Function as a part of the Securitized Products Syndicate Desk, supporting the head of the desk.  The Securitized Products Syndicate desk executes syndicate activities for ABS, RMBS, and CRE CLOs, including trade distribution and underwriting risk management.

  • Coordinate with Global Markets teams and other syndicate desks to provide updates and support ABS transactions.

  • Assist with preparing documentation and facilitating internal deal reviews and approvals.

  • Maintain and grow relationships with key US structured finance investors and assess market demand.

  • Support relationship management of US and Canadian structured finance issuers with GCF team members.

  • Contribute to the development of CIBC’s structured finance distribution and syndication platform in the US.

  • Gather and share market color and investor feedback with issuers.

  • Build and maintain relationships with syndicate desks at other dealers.

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of internal databases, processes, and systems to support transaction tracking and reporting for the GCF team.

Who You Are

  • In depth understanding of fixed income markets and bond fundamentals with an emphasis on ABS, RMBS and CMBS markets.

  • Previous securitized products syndicate experience,1-3yrs.

  • Team player who excels at working collaboratively with others in a group setting.

  • Strong oral communication skills, incorporating the ability to explain detailed financial analysis.

  • Strong client relationship skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster and grow deep relationships with both issuer and investor clients.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

  • Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on several simultaneous transactions.

  • Drafting of messages associated with the marketing of new issues.

  • Strong follow up discipline.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$185,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
