Summary of Job Duties:

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2026. As an Associate or Assistant Professor, responsibilities include teaching, scholarship/research/creative activity, and service in support of the university’s mission. This position is a 100% appointed, 9-month, tenure-track position.

This position is part of the newly commissioned Multi-User Silicon Carbide Research and Fabrication Laboratory (MUSiC[MEW1.1]) at the University of Arkansas. MUSiC is a 22,000 sq. ft. laboratory housing a 6” SiC fab populated with production grade equipment. Its mission includes R&D to advance the SiC field, low-volume prototyping with industry level process control to serve as a bridge to high volume manufacturing, and workforce development at a variety of levels. MUSiC is part of the UA Power Group, the largest university power electronics group in America consisting of 25 faculty, 200 students, and 30 full-time staff. Other key facilities include the High-Density Electronics Center (HiDEC) for advanced electronics packaging; the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT) for testing and measurement up to 6 MVA/15 kVac/1.5 kVdc; and the Nanotechnology Institute for advanced metrology.

We seek candidates with strong research expertise in the areas of Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) process development using SiC for harsh environments and/or high voltage power semiconductors who can leverage the unique in-house capabilities of MUSiC, HiDEC, and NCREPT and further their development.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate collaborative and interdisciplinary synergies with existing faculty with research strengths in power devices and process development, as well as demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to leadership as it will pertain to the long-term sustainability of the MUSiC facility and its mission. The successful applicant is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program.

This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
