Your New Role...
CNN’s digital platforms are the front line between our journalism and CNN’s global audiences. Decisions taken by the programming and alerts team – headlines, push notifications, picture choices and story priorities – are crucial to ensuring our journalism has the maximum impact. CNN’s digital journalism stands or falls on the quality of these choices.
At CNN, programming producers are far more than traditional homepage editors. They combine an instinctive flair for writing snappy headlines with a desire to dive deep into the data that can inform longer-term programming decisions. They handle breaking news stories of global impact, assessing conflicting information and prioritizing a deluge of content
The successful applicant will join the team that manages CNN’s international digital platforms. They will use live data and A/B testing to optimize CNN’s content for its audience across all platforms. They will work closely with senior programmers to ensure CNN digital’s daily output reflects the broad range of the news agenda and meets the demands of the audience.
Above all, they will take pride and delight in ensuring that CNN’s ground-breaking digital journalism is seen by as wide an audience as possible.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Edit CNN International’s mobile, app and desktop platforms according to the day’s editorial priorities as directed by senior programmers
Use real-time data, A/B tests and other tools to ensure maximum reach and impact.
Work with senior programmers and editors to write accurate and engaging push and banner alerts
Write clever and catchy headlines, imaginative teases and select impactful images
Assist with planning and organization of coverage
Liaise with programming teams around the world, ensuring seamless handovers
Qualifications & Experience...
Digital newsroom experience preferred
Experience of digital content management systems
Demonstrable interest in news and global affairs
Good news judgement
Excellent written and spoken English
Aptitude for concise headline-writing and visual impact
A global worldview and an organised mindset
