The Associate Packaging Engineer is responsible for packaging development, testing and qualification of new packaging materials & products of global brands for Abbott Nutrition. Programs will range from development of new concepts through optimization of existing packaging for nutritional products. This position, at initiation will focus a substantial portion on developing new test methods where applicable or use existing test methods to conduct performance testing of packaging commodities and materials in support of development leading to engineering studies and validation trials at supplier locations and AN locations. Effective ability to collaborate across divisional and regional boundaries is critical to be successful. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • This position is responsible for packaging development, testing and qualification of new packaging materials & products of global brands for Abbott Nutrition. Programs will range from development of new concepts through optimization of existing packaging for nutritional products.

  • Collaborate internally with cross functional groups and externally with supplier’s for development of new packaging from concept through commercialization.
  • Conduct packaging qualifications trials, review and documents results & works with quality systems/management to specify and set attributes & procedures for packaging commodities.
  • Identify and implement cost optimized opportunities with existing packaging & provide technical expertise on a wide range of packaging issues.
  • Deliver capital project cost estimates and timelines that are accurate to ensure projects can be executed on time and on budget. Where necessary manage capital & non-capital projects as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Plastics, Chemical or Bio-Medical engineering with 1-3 years’ experience in Nutrition, Pharma or Medical devices industry.
  • Technical knowledge of a range of packaging materials, converting process, test methods & validation protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication & problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively interface with broad global cross functional teams & has demonstrated ability to make decisions independently.

The base pay for this position is

$50,700.00 – $101,300.00
