You will be part of the National Library, Collections (Arts) team that engages Singaporeans in discovering and using Singapore and regional content, thereby fostering a sense of national identity and pride. The role will also include developing and delivering timely information products and reference services to meet NLB / NL's desired outcomes and objectives.
[What you will be working on]
- Handle reference and research enquiries and provide in-depth reference support for queries related to subject expertise
- Develop the Performing Arts (English and Chinese) collection by defining requirements to meet users' needs for print & non-print materials, resources for digitisation and take follow-up actions (e.g. weeding, select materials to fill collection gaps)
- Write and edit articles in professional publications, prepare book summaries, reviews, annotated bibliographies/booklists, research/conference papers related to the area(s) of specialisation
- Lead content development efforts in subject specialisation (documentation and curatorial research) including tracking of key trends and developments
- Cultivate networks with subject experts, industry partners and stakeholders and expand partner sources to acquire new content with NLB selectors or through donors to build a robust collection
- Plan, conduct and strategize promotion and outreach activities to create greater awareness of the library's collections, products and services which includes conducting library tours and user education sessions as and when assigned
[What we are looking for]
To be a successful candidate, you will need to:
- 2-5 years of relevant working experience, with a background in a performing arts-related discipline preferred (Music, Dance, Theatre and/or Film). Applicants with no experience may apply.
- Strong proficiency in English and Chinese, both written and spoken
- Good project management, organisational, communication and writing skills
- Good working knowledge of digital content and online platforms
- Strong networking and relationship building skills with a passion for learning and commitment to customer service
- Able to work independently and in teams
- Required to perform shift work and work during weekends
