PURPOSE

IQVIA is recruiting for an Associate Director, Human Resources, to support Regional Business Units covering approximately 2,500 employees. Reporting to Director of Japan HR Partner team, this role provides strong and engaging leadership, expertise, advice, HR business partnering and works seamlessly with other HR teams to provide an overall joined-up HR delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a Senior HR Business Partner, providing strategic and hands-on HR business partnering support to assigned business units.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders by deeply understanding business and organizational challenges, and providing consultation and guidance across areas such as organizational design, people strategy, leadership, and talent management.
  • Leads the planning, implementation, and embedding of best practices in talent and organizational initiatives, including talent pipeline development, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Proactively manages and advises on employee relations matters, ensuring appropriate resolution in line with local policies and employment laws, and escalates complex issues to the Director as appropriate.
  • Serves as the local HR lead for M&A activities, driving HR due diligence and leading people-related workstreams during integration (PMI) phases.
  • Partners closely with Regional and Global HR stakeholders, including HRBPs, Centres of Excellence, and specialist teams, to localize and execute global HR strategies and initiatives in alignment with business priorities.
  • Leads HR initiatives and projects from design through execution, taking accountability for outcomes, stakeholder management, and delivery of tangible business impact.
  • Collaborates with the HR Shared Services team to address operational issues, identify improvement opportunities, and enhance both business effectiveness and employee experience.
  • Assesses and manages people-related impacts of business initiatives such as organizational changes or real estate transitions, contributing to local organizational effectiveness.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Sound knowledge and experience of Japan employment legislation, including Works Council liaison (where relevant)

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree or educational equivalent and 10 years’ experience as a generalist or combination of generalist and specialist including 4 years direct line management operating with senior/executive management teams; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
