Control System Software Technician - HMI 

Summary

Level at which the technical employee continues to build technical knowledge of the company, systems, processes, and customers through execution of well‑defined HMI and SCADA tasks, following established standards, procedures, and templates, while learning through practice and collaboration with experienced engineers.


Job Responsibilities

  • Executes clearly defined HMI and SCADA configuration tasks using established standards, tools, templates, and procedures
  • Supports SCADA configuration, testing, and verification activities within a controlled and reviewed scope
  • Applies documented procedures to perform basic troubleshooting and resolve routine technical issues
  • Escalates non‑routine issues, design questions, or unclear situations to senior engineers
  • Builds knowledge of the company, internal processes, automation systems, and customer environments through hands‑on execution
  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction; work is reviewed when required
  • Exercises judgment within clearly defined technical guidelines to determine appropriate actions for assigned tasks
  • Applies experience and training to solve routine technical problems in a structured manner
  • Impacts the quality and reliability of own work and contributes to overall team effectiveness
  • Provides informal support or assistance to team members when appropriate
  • Promotes personal accountability for Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) by adhering to the principles and guidelines outlined in HMH’s HSSE governing policy

Required Qualifications

Education:

Relevant technical education or training is desirable. Formal engineering education is not required. Training and support will be provided.

Experience:

Experience performing structured technical tasks while following documented procedures or instructions. Exposure to automation systems, HMI, or SCADA environments is an advantage.

Skills and Abilities:

Clear communication skills (written and oral) to support collaboration within a technical team. Ability to explain straightforward technical information to others. Demonstrated ability to follow technical instructions carefully, work in a structured manner, and develop practical proficiency within a defined technical area.
