Associate Director, Web & Digital Operations

The Office of Marketing and Communications is looking for an Associate Director, Web and Digital Communications.

The Associate Director, Web & Digital Operations oversees the operational execution, quality oversight and coordination of Brandeis University’s centrally managed web and digital initiatives. This role oversees project intake, workflows and timelines across the digital team’s work, ensuring visibility, coordination and timely execution; monitors site health including accessibility and technical quality, coordinating remediation and continuous improvement efforts; and tracks operational trends to strengthen processes and team capacity. Adapts processes and priorities as web platforms and initiatives evolve. The Associate Director ensures the digital team delivers timely, consistent and quality experiences that support the university’s strategic priorities. 

ESSENTIAL & OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Web & Digital Project Management (70%): Manage the intake, scoping, prioritization and execution of web, analytics and digital marketing initiatives across the Marketing Communications digital team. Maintain a centralized view of project timelines, dependencies and deliverables to ensure work is planned, sequenced and completed accurately and on time. Coordinate with team members, stakeholders, ITS and external vendors as needed to support smooth execution, manage competing priorities and proactively keep initiatives on track. Balance operational leadership with hands-on web work as projects require.

  • Operational Quality & Compliance (15%): Oversee web monitoring processes and tools to proactively identify and resolve content, accessibility, SEO and technical issues, strengthening Brandeis’ digital presence and ensuring a seamless experience for all users. Maintain governance and support documentation to ensure consistent, high-quality web operations. Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and other legal or regulatory requirements, coordinating updates proactively.

  • Team Coordination & Support (15%): Provide operational support to team members, including monitoring incoming support tickets, assigning tasks and resolving issues when possible to maintain reliable and effective digital content and functionality. Identify trends and opportunities from ticket activity to inform workflow improvements and enhance the team’s overall efficiency and impact. Co-lead training and reinforce web standards for web editors and stakeholders as needed. Represent the team in relevant committees or working groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Information Technology, Project Management, or a related field. 

  • Excellent project management, organizational, and workflow coordination skills. PMP certification preferred.

  • Proven experience 5-8 years with (8-10+ years preferred) managing complex websites, digital projects, or multi-unit web operations, with demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and maintain high-quality web content.

  • Strong understanding of web technologies, content management systems (CMS), and web development languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

  • Experience with responsive design, web accessibility standards, SEO best practices, AI visibility and operational compliance requirements.

  • Experience using digital tools to monitor site performance, identify issues, and drive process improvements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and guide team members during project execution.
