Associate Director – U.S. Consumer Creative & Advertising, GI
We are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Central Marketing Team – Consumer while dedicated to elevating U.S. consumer advertising campaign creative excellence for Lilly medicine brands. The U.S. Consumer Creative & Advertising Associate Director is charged with delivering creative excellence by crafting novel, human-centric consumer campaigns that reinforce consumer trust in Lilly and the value of its medicines. This role helps to lead, shape, plan, and implement PESO channel-integrated U.S. Consumer Branded Creative Campaigns and assets that help deliver against priority Therapeutic Area consumer business objectives and fit within a cohesive campaign strategy relative to co-existing Lilly Masterbrand and Disease State Education initiatives. The role is focused on developing campaigns that bring to bear a variety of channels, including video/film, audio, and out-of-home (OOH) advertising and inclusive of Shared media.
This position may operate in agile teams, with alignment to specific brands, therapeutic areas or capabilities teams, adjusting based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Consumer Campaign Development
- Ensure comprehensive understanding of target patients, insights, strategic imperatives, competitive landscape, and critical metrics.
- Partner with market research and testing (qualitative and quantitative) as needed to ensure the viability of creative campaigns with consumers.
- Lead agency development process of creative platforms/campaigns/programs and campaign expressions, inclusive of the Big Idea, Festival of Ideas (FOIs) and PESOfest buildouts, that deliver on the TA creative brief; confirm creative briefs with TA leads.
- Ensure creative PESO channel extensions (e.g. OOH, Partnerships, etc.) are embedded into final creative recommendation; partner with fellow Central Marketing Team – Consumer and coordinated Agency Team (IAT) teams to ensure tight creative development and execution plans.
- Drive Creative Campaign and Program development and execution plans with the primary AOR within the IAT planning model.
- Run Creative Campaign and Creative development and execution process, collaboration, and timelines for work featuring Celebrity and/or Social Influencer talent.
- Ensure cross-cultural marketing insights and other GCO consumer capabilities are infused into creative platforms/campaigns/programs, as relevant.
- Partner with creative agencies on creative and production bidding process, ensuring positioning with campaign objectives and budgetary constraints.
- Drive OPDP submission processes for consumer campaign materials, ensuring regulatory compliance from development through execution.
Campaign Execution
- Lead execution of creative campaign development process to achieve annual business goals and Therapeutic Area critical metrics.
- Integrate Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned (PESO) media recommendations into creative concepts and marketing plans.
- Ensure tactics are driven by consumer insights and data, aligned with Therapeutic Area and brand objectives.
- Develop productive relationships with creative agencies and external vendors to deliver compelling, right-sized campaigns; ensure appropriate integration and coordination across internal and external partners to deliver campaigns as planned.
- Uphold Lilly Masterbrand and U.S. Consumer creative standards, ensuring regulatory compliance throughout production.
- Run the pre-bid, casting, wardrobe, location scouting, social media content bring together, stills/shot list, and other pre-production, production, and post-production processes for and with creative and production vendors, ensuring alignment with campaign objectives and budgetary constraints.
- Lead Campaign and Creative execution, collaboration, and production needs for work featuring Celebrity and/or Social Influencer talent, maintaining tight positioning with Partnerships team, celebrity talent agency/agents, etc.
- Lead production and approval of campaign assets, ensuring prompt delivery and brand alignment.
- Lead rough cut reviews and asset optimizations in collaboration with agencies and internal collaborators.
- Lead OPDP submission processes for consumer campaign materials, ensuring regulatory compliance from development through execution.
- Coordinate tactical communication vehicles and schedules across team members.
- Track and run budgets for assigned tactics, ensuring calibration with overall consumer campaign financials.
- Complete media trafficking grids to ensure planned execution in paid media channels; ensure network clearance is obtained.
- Run campaign licensing and legal approval processes.
- Partner with BI&A and Media teams to monitor campaign performance and drive optimizations and implement reporting of campaign metrics.
- Implement full tactic lifecycle protocols for marketing tactics.
Operations
- Develop day-to-day effective relationships with consumer creative agencies of record (AoR) and social/specialty agencies, and run integration among internal agency partners, including Lilly Marketing Studios, as needed.
- Lead day-to-day creative agency fees, production and operating expenses budget relative to creative campaign and asset development and execution and recommend budget trade-offs to TA.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with cross-functional partners (Regulatory, Legal, Medical, Corporate Communications, and fellow Global Customer Office Teams) to implement campaign vision.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, processes, and external obligations.
- Ensure compliance with Customer Information Quality (CIQ) procedures and tools.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of U.S. consumer marketing experience
- Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.
Additional preferences
- Leadership of creative campaign development and execution.
- Strong technical competencies in go-to-market marketing strategies, campaign development, video/digital production, content creation, and performance measurement.
- Proficiency in multichannel digital media tactics, including social media.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer insights into compelling communications across channels.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with internal and external partners.
- Experience leading digital campaigns and media strategy/execution.
- Familiarity with social media influencer or celebrity partnerships.
- External Agency-side experience (creative or account) and/or experience managing creative agencies, including bidding processes and vendor selection.
- Confirmed U.S. marketing operations experience, including launch execution planning, customer information quality, and content approval workflows.
- Understanding of Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned (PESO) media channels and planning.
- Experience with regulatory compliance in creative production (e.g., OPDP, FDA submissions).
- Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and influence across agencies and peer groups.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Experience with Veeva Vault PromoMats or similar asset management platforms.
- Innovation attitude and comfort with ambiguity.
- Strong project management skills.
- MBA or advanced marketing certification.
- Experience in cross-customer marketing or marketing capabilities.
- Based in Indianapolis.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$127,500 - $187,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
