The Associate Director – Motor Drive Electronics will lead the design, development, and industrialization of advanced motor drive and power electronics systems for our products, while driving technical strategy, architecture decisions, and cross‑functional execution.  This role combines deep hands‑on expertise in motor control and power electronics with leadership of a high‑performance engineering team and close collaboration with product, manufacturing, and quality.

Key responsibilities :

 Own the technical roadmap and system architecture for motor drive electronics, including inverters, motor control hardware, gate‑drive circuitry, protection, sensing, and associated embedded control interfaces.

Lead end‑to‑end development from concept, simulation, and prototyping through validation, certification, and production ramp for motor drive and power conversion platforms.

 Define and enforce engineering standards, design guidelines, and best practices for power electronics, EMC/EMI, safety, reliability, and derating across programs.

 Provide technical direction and mentorship to senior engineers and specialists in power electronics, motor control, and embedded systems, ensuring rigorous design reviews and problem‑solving.

 Collaborate with mechanical, systems, firmware, and manufacturing teams to optimize complete electric drive systems, including thermal management, packaging, and manufacturability.

 Drive root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for complex field and test issues in motor drives and related electronics, using structured failure analysis and reliability methods.

  Evaluate and introduce advanced technologies such as wide‑bandgap devices (SiC/GaN), new topologies, and high‑speed motors to improve efficiency, power density, and cost.

  Support make/buy decisions, supplier selection, and technical alignment with key semiconductor, magnetics, and motor vendors.

 Contribute to IP strategy through invention disclosure, patents, and publications in the motor drive and power electronics domain.

 Lead an engineering group (and/or multiple project teams) delivering motor drive electronics to schedule, cost, and quality targets, with clear KPIs and accountability.

 Partner with product management and business leadership to translate product requirements into technical roadmaps, estimates, and resourcing plans.

 Manage engineering budgets, capital plans for labs and test infrastructure, and external development partners or consultants where applicable.

 Champion a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, including deployment of design reviews, FMEAs, DFM,DFT and lessons‑learned.

 Represent the motor drive electronics function in executive reviews, customer meetings, and audits as the domain expert and technical authority.

 Strong experience with simulations and modelling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE tools) and interpreting lab results to correlate with models.

Required qualifications

  Master’s degree or PhD in ECE / EEE (preferred focus on Power Electronics, Drives, or Controls); exceptional bachelor’s candidates ( ECE/EEE) with strong experience may be considered.

 Typically 20 + years of industry experience in power electronics and motor drives preferably in Aerospace.

 Understanding of complete Product Development Cycle : Requirements, Design, Development, Integration and Qualification.

 Good knowledge of standards/process such as DO-254 and DO-160

 Solid communication, writing skills and teaming skills are a must.
