Job Summary: This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, International Affairs Branch of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $305,000.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the supervision and the direction of staff members supporting the FDIC's global outreach programs and promoting sound deposit insurance practices around the world. The staff will also help IADI provide broader-based financial stability that benefits all domestic and global banking systems. Advises the Director on the full range of policy and operational matters pertaining to the International Affairs Branch. Conducts strategic planning related to the FDIC's foreign visitor, training, policy coordination, outreach and related international programs. Assists FDIC divisions in coordinating international activities across organizational boundaries. Assists in coordinating with other federal banking agencies, the Treasury Department, State Department, international organizations (International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), etc.) and private entities, as appropriate, on international activities and training to avoid duplication, leverage resources and improve the effectiveness of FDIC international efforts. Prepares speeches, position papers, proposals and other materials for the Director and other senior FDIC officials dealing with classified and unclassified international matters. Prepares reports, classified briefings, and conducts special projects related to FDIC international activities. Supports the Director of the Division of Insurance and Research, the Office of the Chairman, and the Secretariat of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, and other strategically important organizations in enhancing their effectiveness and achieving organizational goals related to the implementation of international standards, training, and guidance. Enhances the efficiency of IAB operations; addresses issues relating to budget, personnel, internal controls, logistics and other operational matters. Assists in designing and maintaining the IAB website, ensuring timely, accurate tracking of international activities and otherwise enhancing its usefulness for future FDIC missions and international engagements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Leadership Experience 1: Experience in overseeing and coordinating the work of organizational units directly and indirectly through subordinate supervisors, including assigning work; directing changes to programs and priorities; and evaluating performance against goals; AND Leadership Experience 2: Experience in managing employee performance and growth directly and indirectly through subordinate supervisors, including evaluating employee readiness for successive roles; recognizing accomplishments, providing feedback and development opportunities, and addressing performance/conduct issues; AND Leadership Experience 3: Experience in overseeing implementation of and improvements to recruiting, hiring, training, utilization, and succession readiness of staff; AND Technical Experience: Experience in planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the workload associated with promoting international deposit insurance standards, financial regulatory practices, and stability by providing training and expertise to global financial system authorities.
