Associate Director, Business Performance – Attribute Sciences (AS)

Attribute Sciences is seeking an Associate Director, Business Performance — Chief of Staff & Strategic Planning Lead to partner directly with the Vice President of Attribute Sciences and the AS leadership team. This role will strengthen the organization’s strategic planning, business management, execution discipline, business continuity, and leadership operating effectiveness. The role will serve as a trusted partner to the VP and leadership team, helping translate AS priorities into clear strategies, operating plans, governance routines, metrics, and actions. It will also lead the AS strategic planning process and ensure alignment across portfolio priorities, resources, finance, capability building, cross-functional commitments, and the Process Development organization more broadly. This is a high-impact role for a strong strategic operator who can work across scientific, technical, and business teams to bring structure, clarity, and follow-through to complex organizational priorities.

In this vital role, you will primarily be responsible for the organization’s strategic planning across a diverse set of activities and analytical disciplines. As a member of the AS Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the VP of Attribute Sciences, this role will serve as a business liaison within AS (and across sub-functions) and will be accountable for the functional budget, resource forecasting, and capacity management. The Associate Director of Business Strategy for AS will be managing staff and will be asked to lead and execute strategic projects to shape functional strategy, modernize business workflows, translate priorities into executable plans, and drive continuous improvement.

This position will be located in Thousand Oaks, California.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as Chief of Staff and strategic advisor to the AS Vice President, lead execution of functional business and operating model, and ensure alignment with strategic goals and organizational priorities

  • Own or coordinate end-to-end business management activities, including budget planning, forecasting, headcount tracking, and performance monitoring

  • Lead resource and capacity planning across the function, including headcount planning, demand and supply modeling, prioritization tradeoff discussions, and scenario-based decision support.

  • Develop and maintain high-quality business insights, dashboards, and planning tools that improve visibility to work, resource utilization, and performance trends

  • Develop and deliver executive-level materials for leadership meetings, strategy reviews, and portfolio discussions, that clearly communicate business performance, risks, and recommendations

  • Represent Attribute Sciences in cross-functional business operations forums and enterprise initiatives, driving completion of deliverables

  • Organize and facilitate leadership team meetings, including agenda setting, content development, and action tracking

  • Oversee strategy sessions, goal planning exercises, and tracking of objectives and key results

  • Manage the annual business calendar, including leadership engagements, strategy reviews, and functional governance

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall business performance

  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders to address business needs and drive alignment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 3 years of project/program leadership or business management experience,

  • OR Master’s degree and 5 years of project/program leadership or business management experience,

  • OR Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of project/program leadership or business management experience,

  • OR Associate’s degree and 12 years of project/program leadership or business management experience,

  • High school diploma/GED and 14 years of project/program leadership or business management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, including experience supporting process development, R&D or technical operations

  • Strong business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations and leadership-ready materials.

  • Working knowledge of business analytics tools, such as Tableau, Power BI and Spotfire. Ability to develop visual data analysis reports and tools to drive decision making.

  • Strong self-prioritization and ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables effectively

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Experience managing and analyzing large data sets. Ability to translate disparate and sometimes ambiguous data sets into actionable insights and recommendations

  •  Proven ability to deliver new and improved business processes

  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and leading leadership meetings and strategy sessions.

  • Proficient in facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving, change-management skills and ability to apply operational excellence methodologies

  • Project a positive ‘can do’ attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives as needed and requested

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
