Why This Role Matters:

Group One Thousand One (“Group 1001”) is the holding company of several insurance companies including Delaware Life Insurance Co. and Clear Spring Life & Annuity. Group 1001 was founded in 2013 with the purchase of an annuity portfolio from Sun Life Financial and has had several acquisitions over the past decade including Guggenheim Life and Annuity Co. in 2021. The Investment Management division currently has $41.2b AUM and consists of a team of 24 based in Waltham, MA and NYC. The company itself has 1,500 employees in seven offices nationwide, the majority based in Zionsville, IN and Waltham, MA. Areas of investment focus include ABS & CLOs (public and private), NAV-based financings, lender finance, commercial mortgages, asset origination platform investments, and private credit.

The NY team recently opened a search for an Associate specializing in Asset Based Finance. The role would report to a senior MD and work day-to-day with a small team within the larger investment team.

How You'll Contribute:

  • Evaluate Asset Based Finance opportunities and contribute to all phases of investment process
  • Lead due diligence processes including management calls and data analysis
  • Construct and model bespoke, securitized structures for assets: analyze and underwrite potential investments including reviews of collateral tapes, historical performance, facility structure, and develop quantitative models to conduct scenario analysis
  • Construct thoughtful investment memos using PowerPoint, detailing analysis and investment thesis
  • Lead third party workflows including auditors, rating agencies, servicers and other groups as appropriate
  • Monitor portfolio investments on an ongoing basis, providing periodic outputs on performance and other key metrics

What We're Looking For:

  • 1-4 years of experience in ABS banking/investment banking or relevant buyside experience
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Intex or Python preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter personality capable of independently executing on existing strategy
  • Preferably demonstrated track record in sourcing and executing privately originated asset-based opportunities
  • High personal and ethical standards
