Position Summary:
The Manager, Finance will join the Finance team within the Brookfield Wealth Solutions group, located in our head office in Downtown Toronto, and will report to the Director, Finance (Reporting). The Manager role is a highly visible position that provides the foundation, guidance and exposure towards a challenging and dynamic career. The Manager will be involved at various depths with financial reporting, compliance, and forecasting and will work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including the broader BWS and Brookfield finance and operations teams and the company’s operating subsidiaries. There is also opportunity to provide leadership and mentorship to senior analysts, analysts and co-op students.
Responsibilities:
Lead the financial and management reporting of the company’s securitized investment vehicles on a quarterly and annual basis, which involves coordination with investment accounting, research and operations teams;
Lead the annual securitized investment vehicle audit engagement by acting as the primary Company contact when interacting with auditors and overseeing a team of analysts;
Assist the Valuation Committee chair with the preparation and presentation of materials for the Valuation Committee;
Assist senior management with the preparation and review of critical documents including but not limited to board materials, financial statements, MD&A;
Identify opportunities for process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy and spearhead the implementation of strategic initiatives;
Act as the financial business partner to the company’s operating subsidiaries ensuring quarterly submissions are provided on a timely basis and are complete and accurate;
Participate in the resolution of complex technical accounting issues;
Compile, analyze and report on corporate and key business platforms including operating metrics;
Review various analyses and reports for senior management to support their business decision making, and for the board of directors;
Ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results, as well as supporting any special projects;
Mentor and develop junior team members
Qualifications & Requirements:
4-6 years of progressive work experience in a public accounting and/or industry role (experience in the insurance industry and knowledge of securitization vehicles is an asset);
Experience with the preparation and review of IFRS or US GAAP financial statements for a publicly listed entity (US GAAP and SOX experience is an asset);
CPA designation;
Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced team-oriented environment;
Excellent analytical, and problem-solving ability;
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience such as preparing or reviewing accounting policy memos;
Superior communication (English oral and written) and interpersonal skills;
Demonstrated leadership ability to drive shared, team success;
Strong drive for process improvements and commitment to high-quality and timely delivery of work;
Advanced Microsoft Office Excel skills;
