Job Summary
At BlackRock, Alternatives Fund Controllers (AFC) play a critical role in delivering independent oversight, strong governance, and financial integrity across the firm’s alternative investment platform. The AFC function partners closely with Investment Teams, Product Strategy, Valuations, and external service providers to ensure accurate, timely, and controlled valuation and reporting of alternative investment funds.
The Associate will support oversight of Net Asset Value (NAV) and fund financial reporting across Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, and Fund of Funds. This role provides exposure to complex fund structures, fund lifecycle events, and controller-level responsibilities within a global operating model.
Key Responsibilities
NAV Oversight & Financial Control:
Review NAVs prepared by external fund administrators
Analyze P&L, balance sheet movements, and investor allocations
Validate management and performance fees
Assess valuation estimates and escalate risks
Fund Lifecycle & Operational Oversight:
Support fund launches, capital calls, distributions, and liquidations
Interpret fund governing documents and side letters
Support onboarding and oversight of fund administrators
Reporting, Audit & Regulatory Support:
Support audits, financial statements, and regulatory filings
Respond to audit and stakeholder queries
Adhere to internal control frameworks
Stakeholder Partnership & Transformation:
Partner with investment, valuation, and operations teams
Drive operational improvement and automation initiatives
Support data and AI-driven transformation
Qualifications
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
Associate: 5–9 years experience; Associate: 5–8 years experience
Experience in fund accounting, audit, or asset management preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and financial skills
Risk and control perspective
Strong communication and partner management
Advanced Excel proficiency
