CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Assoc. VP, Career Services provides visionary leadership to transform and strengthen the University of Miami’s career ecosystem. This role oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of a cohesive, university-wide career services operation that ensures students are career-ready and positioned for post-graduate success. The Assoc. VP drives strategy, fosters cross-campus partnerships with academic units and career teams, and builds robust relationships with alumni and employers. The position designs and implements a comprehensive, data-driven strategy that integrates career readiness throughout the student learning experience, and mobilizes resources to advance career outcomes for all students.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Develops and executes a university-wide strategy for career advancement aligned with institutional goals and the evolving job market.
2. Expands employer and alumni engagement, coordinating career services across professional schools, and establishing relationships with new and diverse employers.
3. Collaborates with academic deans, vice provosts, alumni engagement leadership, and university operations leadership to connect students with potential employers.
4. Serves all full-time undergraduate and graduate students, as well as recent graduates, through career coaching, workshops, and employer partnerships.
5. Oversees the integration of career services into academic, student affairs, and alumni initiatives.
6. Embeds explicit career instruction into academic curricula in collaboration with faculty and instructional designers.
7. Expands experiential learning opportunities, including internships, co-ops, service learning, and employer-sponsored projects.
8. Develops and maintains a network of engaged employers who provide internships, job opportunities, and real-world learning experiences.
9. Leverages alumni engagement to support mentoring, career panels, job shadowing, and recruitment pipelines.
10. Provides strategic and operational leadership.
11. Identifies, pilots, and scales high-impact initiatives to improve student career readiness and employability.
12. Maintains a student-centered, forward-thinking operation, plays a key role in student retention and success, oversees assessment functions, communicates outcomes to stakeholders, and remains accountable for career preparedness at the University of Miami.
13. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements and monitors controls.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Master's degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
