Responsibilities

The Assistant Vice President will operate as the regional payroll team lead in APAC, ensuring timely accurate payroll processing and compliance with regulations.  Current jurisdictions include India, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.  This position will partner closely with the global comp operations team and Oaktree’s external service providers, as well as other cross-functional stakeholders in HR, tax, accounting, IT, and legal.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the APAC payroll function including managing the end-to-end payroll process for assigned locations, providing back-up coverage for payrolls in other regions as needed, and leading new payroll implementations;
  • Overseeing the day-to-day team activities and development for the payroll team members and vendor consultants based in APAC, coaching as needed;
  • Reviewing and/or preparing periodic financial reports for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Overseeing roll forward/preparation of payroll communications and control logs for the APAC region;
  • Proactively leading and project managing process improvement and system update efforts;
  • Managing vendor relationships and first point of contact for escalation;
  • Partnering with Tax, HR, and external tax advisors on global mobility and short-term business traveler policies and requests;
  • Ensuring SOX compliance and reviewing audit documents prior to submission;
  • Ensuring compliance with local and national laws;
  • Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Oversight of regional employment verification requests; and
  • Facilitating periodic review and revisions of standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten years of multi-company payroll administration within a professional firm;
  • Experience with Workday preferred;
  • Experience with ADP Celergo a plus;
  • Proven ability to manage people and tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, independently determining order of priority and self-initiating other value-added tasks; and
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
