The Oregon Department of Corrections is seeking applications for an Executive Support Specialist 2 to serve as the Assistant to the Eastside Institutions Administrator. This position reports directly to Mr. McLay, Operations Eastside Administrator, and is based at the Four Rivers Building in Ontario, Oregon. You must be a current State of Oregon employee (contract workers excluded) to apply. The selected candidate will be required to report to the worksite daily, as this is an in-office position with a Monday through Friday schedule.
This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
As the Executive Support Specialist 2, you will provide high-level administrative support and coordinate highly sensitive and confidential work for the Eastside Institutions Administrator within the Operations Division. In this role, you will represent the Eastside Institutions Administrator and the department when working with state agencies, special interest groups, the legislature, and the public. You will assist in carrying out operational and mission objectives, support strategic initiatives, and coordinate special projects and operational matters. Additionally, you will actively participate in management meetings and be responsible for interpreting and applying DOC, DAS, and union contracts, as well as relevant policies and procedures.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, as well as some in-state travel away from the office. The incumbent must have practical experience with databases, Microsoft Office applications, Outlook email, and related AIC work systems. May involve interactions with Adults in Custody (AICs) who are angry, hostile, or abusive. Such situations can present a risk of personal injury, death, or potential hostage scenarios. You will be responsible for responding to AIC incidents in your immediate work area and for helping to prevent escapes through the proper control of keys, tools, equipment, and other items that could be considered contraband. Reporting and documenting unusual incidents are a required part of this role.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
