Main Purpose:
Puma Energy (Australia) Bitumen has a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join the team at our Bitumen Terminal located at Pinkenba in Brisbane, Queensland.
This would be a great opportunity for someone who has operational experience preferably within the oil or manufacturing industry combined with wanting to demonstrate their capability to Lead, Motivate and Work Collaboratively with others. We are seeking someone who has the desire to develop their Leadership skills as an Assistant Terminal Manager, with a goal to develop their skillset and experience towards managing the entire Terminal in the future
Supporting the Terminal Manager to provide Leadership to the Bulwer Terminal employees and contractors to ensure safe and efficient delivery of operations and maintenance, including supply and stock management, production, asset management, control of operating costs and implementation of efficiency improvements whilst meeting statutory requirements and Puma Energy standards.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily production scheduling and support all maintenance work management processes
- Monitor stock and advise stakeholders of issues or potential impact to Customers
- Coordinate the efficient and safe ship discharge with shore officers on duty
- Obtain and hold wharf attendant and shore officer accreditation
- Minimise the impact of equipment breakdowns
- Support reliable operation of control system and automated gantry
- Ensure compliance with Puma Safety Management System, Australian Standards and other regulatory requirements
- Write, develop and maintain standard operating and isolation procedures
- Manage Permit to Work and Safety systems
- Provide supervision of major terminal works, upgrades and shutdowns
Key responsibilities, Leadership and management:
- Lead and develop our team to grow capability and competence
- Provide coverage for the Terminal Manager as required
- Mentor team members, celebrate their successes and contribute to the development of a positive culture
- Manage Capex projects as delegated by the Terminal Manager
- Monitor operations and maintenance expenditure in alignment with budget
Our ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, who is self-motivated and driven to make improvements. They will have a strong service focus, be able to manage difficult situations calmly, be flexible in working hours should there be breakdowns or unexpected events and possess the following qualifications/skills/experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ operations experience, preferably with oil or manufacturing industry exposure
- The ability to lead, motivate and work collaboratively with others
- Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, industry safety standards and engineering standards
- Basic understanding of Trade Practices requirements
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Exposure to emergency response and capability to manage high pressure or difficult situations
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and ability to build relationships.
- Effective organisational and planning capabilities
- Focus on Customer Service and delivery
As a preference, you will have:
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills for process plant equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience in PLCs and automated control systems, such as DCS or SCADA
- Experience with CMMS and HSE software systems
- Experience in permit issuing
- Experience in project management
- Tertiary education in an Engineering related discipline or relevant Trade Certification.
- Experience working with mechanical or electrical maintenance practices
