The Assistant Research Scientist, under general supervision, conducts independent research within their area of expertise. This role applies techniques and methodologies developed through education and professional experience to address research questions associated with assigned projects. The Assistant Research Scientist contributes to the preparation of research papers, articles, and publications; supports routine laboratory operations, including workspace preparation and cleaning; and collaborates with faculty and other researchers as needed.
Opportunities to Contribute
Conducts independent research on C. difficile sporulation, germination, and host colonization, applying advanced scientific knowledge and expertise to execute research projects within their field.
Analyzes experimental data and documents results accurately in laboratory notebooks.
Contributes to scientific manuscripts, grant applications, technical progress reports, and presentation materials for dissemination at national and international meetings.
Supports routine laboratory operations, including workspace preparation, cleaning, and other assigned research activities.
Provides guidance and assistance to student researchers, postdoctoral associates, and graduate students contributing to related research projects.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in a Life Science (e.g., Biology or Microbiology)
3 years relevant experience
Must be able to work with an anaerobic chamber.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
3 years of experience in studying C. difficile physiology and genetics.
Expertise in bacterial physiology and genetics.
Experience in bacterial genomics (e.g., RNAseq).
Experience with bacterial pathogenesis.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Presentation skills.
Analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
