The Global Electrification and Battery Systems (GEBS) Program Management team responsible for RESS (Rechargeable Energy Storage System) is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual looking for an opportunity that will allow them to showcase their talents and have an impact in a new strategic growth area for General Motors and the future of our electric vehicles.

The Role

As an Assistant Program Manager – you will play a crucial role in supporting the planning, execution, and successful delivery of battery pack development to production. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of advancements in electric vehicle battery development. You will work closely with a dynamic team of experts in a collaborative environment, contributing to the growth and success of the organization.

The role requires a high level of initiative, independent judgement, and indirect leadership capability to help lead a broad cross functional team. In addition, the role requires planning, developing, and analyzing information necessary to support program leadership decisions as well as excellent organization skills to document program decisions and drive accountability.

Our ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity and demonstrates problem-solving leadership with limited oversight.

What You'll Do

  • Indirect Leadership: Develop Program Execution Team (PET), Change Management (CRB) and Product Readiness Team (PRT) agendas and lead/facilitate the cross functional forums driving for results. Lead initial PSQRR gate reviews for the program. Provide organizational support to the program team and facilitate effective communication. Support and serve as backup to Program Manager and handle a variety of non-recurring special assignments.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including PET, CRB and PRT decisions, minutes, action items, progress reports, product readiness summary and timelines. Establish a "plan for every part" in eTracktool by model year. Document part level countermeasures & risk management and analyze Engineering Work Orders in ECM system.

  • Team Management: Support development of program deliverables and perform detailed tracking and status, driving accountability and escalating to Program Manager as required. Manage the program’s Integrated Timing Plan and serve in an advisory capacity to other functions supporting the Product Execution Team

  • Leadership Engagement: Architect leadership presentations for program gate reviews, coordinating material from all cross-functional areas into a comprehensive storyline for the program.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Working level knowledge/experience in vehicle/product development and product launches

  • High level of independent judgment and analytical ability to solve unique problems

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills

  • Effective at dealing with ambiguity and change

  • Ability to maintain effectiveness in fast-paced, changing environment

  • Strong organizational skills

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Program Management experience

  • Familiarity of the Automotive industry, including knowledge of Business Development, Planning, Portfolio Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing and Supply Chain

  • Familiarity with advanced battery technologies
