Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Clinical Microbiology position is responsible for preparing and running all lab sections for both BIO 270L Clinical Microbiology Lab and BIO 185L Microbiology for Nursing Lab, with occasional placement in the lecture sections of those courses when needed.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for the design and oversight of the laboratory content, in coordination with the lecture instructors, and writing the laboratory manual.
Additional responsibilities focus on preparing the materials for all sections throughout the week (7-10 additional hours outside of the classroom) which includes, but is not limited to, ordering, cell culture, plate preparation, reagent procurement etc.
This position is also responsible for oversight and training of any necessary additional instructors that may be needed in these courses.
Minimum Qualifications
Required
A Masters degree in Clinical Microbiology or related disciplines
Significant teaching experience at the college level in clinical microbiology laboratory settings
Preferred
A Doctorate in Clinical Microbiology or related disciplines
Significant experience designing and teaching clinical microbiology specifically for nursing programs as well as other allied health areas
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
At least one section of lab may be scheduled for evening hours (6:30-9:30 usually) each semester.
Estimated Pay Range:
The estimated pay range for this position is $62,000-$65,000 annually. Offered salary will be commensurate with work experience and educational background.
