The Opportunity:

Washington State University (WSU) Vancouver invites applications for a 9-month academic year, full-time (100% FTE) scholarly Assistant Professor - Career-Track teaching faculty position in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin their appointment on August 16, 2026. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, digital circuit design, microprocessors, signal processing, power systems, control systems, VLSI design, electronics, and computer systems & architecture. Strong candidates in other relevant areas will also be considered.

Position duties The job duties of this position primarily include teaching undergraduate courses in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science; participating in the continuous teaching assessment activities of the relevant units and WSU campuses; effectively communicating, mentoring, and interacting with students; promoting the WSU Vancouver program in other schools and events; and collaborating with others within the unit, University, or other organizations.

Additional Information:

Annual Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field by August 1, 2026 (for August 16, 2026 start) or earned master’s degree with relevant teaching experiences.

  • Demonstrated strong teaching and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry experience, working at industry or working with industry to create student opportunities. 

  • Prior teaching experience in one or multiple areas mentioned above.

  • Experience with curriculum development, program development, and student recruitment.
