About the Department
The Department of Kinesiology (https://brocku.ca/applied-health-sciences/kinesiology/) is one of five departments within the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, and is consistently ranked in the top 50-150 sports-related departments in the QS World University Rankings. We are a research-intensive department composed of 32 faculty members, including five past and present Canada Research Chairs. Through their Bachelor, Master’s, and PhD programs in Kinesiology, Physical and Health Education, and Applied Health Sciences, the Department of Kinesiology has more than 1,100 undergraduate students and over 100 graduate students. We are committed to being the leading department in Canada in the promotion and dissemination of research and education in the science of human movement, exercise and sports through its activities and collaborations with local, provincial, national, and international communities.
About the Position
The Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a tenure-track teaching-intensive position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Anatomy beginning July 1, 2026. The workload of a teaching-intensive faculty member shall normally be 60% teaching (equivalent to 6 half courses per academic year), 20% research/scholarly/creative activities and 20% service.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate degree, university-level graduate and/or undergraduate teaching experience, and the ability to supervise students in small research projects. Demonstration of a strong record of scholarship is considered an asset.
Specifically, we are looking for a dynamic individual with expertise in gross functional human anatomy and the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: (1) musculoskeletal anatomy, (2) neuroanatomy and/or (3) advanced anatomy. Experience working with cadaveric specimens is a requirement. Experience with microscopic anatomy and medical imaging modalities as well as an ability to teach anatomy in clinical contexts are assets. The successful candidate should also provide evidence of the ability to work in a transdisciplinary environment and to make contributions to a vibrant group of scholars housed within the Department, Faculty, and University that can extend to the greater Niagara community.
