Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Wateree Recreation Area.

Major Duties:

  • The purpose of this position is to assist the Wateree Recreation Area Manager in the daily operations of Wateree Recreation Area, which include, but are not limited to, cabins, RV and tent camping, bathhouse, equipment rental, boat ramp and dock, beachfront, and events/programming. In the absence of the Recreation Area Manager, the position is responsible for the overall daily operation of the facility and park. It may also require assisting at Shaw AFB Outdoor Recreation at the direction of the ODR Director. This position is responsible for preparing recurring reports and records, consolidating daily financial reports, managing deposits, assisting with budget management, and collecting and accounting for fees and charges. The role involves responding to patron inquiries, maintaining various usage contracts. Additionally, the position supports the Manager in staff training, recruitment, and performance evaluations, conducts facility inspections, documents maintenance and repair needs, and enters work orders into Tririga. It also involves implementing health and safety standards, indirectly supervising up to 10 employees, preparing work schedules, handling grievances and disciplinary actions, and ensuring a safe, clean, and inviting environment for patrons. The position also plans, develops, coordinates, publicizes, and conducts a variety of core programming, instructional classes, and high-risk adventure programs in support of a diverse Outdoor Adventure Program (OAP) under the guidance of the ODR Assistant Director/Programmer. It includes assisting other recreation aids, assistants, and specialists in the operation, upkeep, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, evaluating and addressing violations of boating safety rules, swimming area rules, and other recreation area guidelines, and assisting with the preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of facilities and equipment. The role maintains accountability of funds, resale items, and equipment, accurately records transactions and fees collected, verifies accuracy against receipts daily, ensures secure maintenance of cash tickets and receipts, promptly collects fees, prepares cashier reports and deposits, and prepares monthly activity reports. It also involves conducting inventories, assisting in the control of issued equipment, and may require working an uncommon tour of duty, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, as well as occasional travel. Qualifying Experience: At least 21 years old with practical knowledge of recreational activities, policies, and procedures related to outdoor recreation. Proficiency in boating, lodging, and recreation area programs is highly desired. Understanding of Appropriated and Non-appropriated fund accounting rules is highly preferred. Handle cash securely, including making change. Skills in using recreational equipment, watercraft, power tools, and facilities are desirable. Maintaining current CPR and First Aid certification is mandatory. Successful completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) is required. Satisfactorly complete a pre-employment physical and be capable of lifting objects up to 50 pounds. The role may require working weekends, holidays, and evenings, and involves both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions, with potential exposure to minor injuries.
