Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Head Football Coach, The Assistant Football Coach (Offense) will serve as a member of the Department of Athletics and be responsible for administration of all aspects relating to a positive and beneficial intercollegiate athletics experience for student-athletes. 

Job Description:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

The assistant coach (Offense) at Fort Lewis College, a NCAA Division II institution in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, is responsible for leading all aspects of an athletically competitive football program, on the defensive side of the ball including, but not limited to:  

  • Organizing and conducting skill instruction with position  
  • Effectively manage relationships with student-athletes, coaches and the broader campus community;  
  • Recruitment and evaluation of prospective student- athletes;  
  • Provide appropriate leadership in practice and competitive environments;  
  • Assist with a quality student-athlete experience through community engagement, campus involvement and competitive achievement;  
  • Monitor academic and disciplinary standing of student-athletes;  
  • Establish positive relationships with support staff;  
  • Manage and supervise assistant on coaches on the defensive side of the ball;  
  • Represent Fort Lewis College and the Athletic Department in a positive manner with a high degree of integrity and quality.   
  • Promote and support Fort Lewis College and its mission.   
  • Promote and support Fort Lewis College Athletic Department’s program mission and goals.  
  • Promote Fort Lewis College’s football program.   
  • Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508. 
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 

 

Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree  
  • 1 year or more of successful experience in coaching football as Assistant Coach at the collegiate level.  
  • 1 year or more with thorough knowledge of and commitment to compliance with the rules, regulations, and policies of NCAA.   
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.   
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities 

Preferred Education, Specialized Skills and Experience: 

  • Master’s degree  
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities  
  • Experience in coaching at NCAA Division II school  

 

Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility: 

Employee reports to the Head Football Coach.

Travel: 

Travel to non-conference and conference scheduled away games, NCAA post-season contests and RMAC meetings. Out of state travel may be necessary for recruiting / professional development

  • Typical Work hours Monday to Friday, however nights and weekends are also required   

Compensation 

Salary range is $21,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package
