Why This Role Matters

 

You will be responsible for assisting in the Christie’s Switzerland Financial Control, Reporting & Compliance team to provide day-to-day accounting operations support for the business, along with the timely and accurate closing of the monthly results.  Based in London you will report to the Finance Manager Switzerland. You will be a strong team player, highly motivated and will provide a high level of customer service. You will be technically strong and perceptive, using your analytical skills to detect anomalies and flag anything suspicious to management on an ongoing basis.  

 

How You'll Make an Impact

 

Daily & Monthly Activities and Year-End closing

  • Journal entries, prepayments and accruals.

  • Bank accounts reconciliations and entries.

  • Reconciling the Travel & Expenses journals.

  • Prepare payments for the credit card expenses.

  • Stock entries.

  • Reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts including but not limited to the FX reconciliations of the Loan and Foreign Currency Bank accounts.

  • Proactively review, investigate, and clear outstanding balance‑sheet balances, this includes identifying discrepancies, performing follow‑ups across sites, and taking full accountability for resolving open items.

  • The preparation of various intercompany current accounts, working with the associated contact to ensure that the balances are agreed between sites, invoices raised and ensuring that all relevant costs and any revaluation is recorded correctly.

  • Support the month end process by assisting with journal posting, resolving queries raised by the business and by the Finance Business Partners, and ensuring the month end process runs smoothly and to deadlines.

  • Raise Purchase orders for finance as required and assist in booking invoices. Review and cancel open Purchase Orders with the business as appropriate.

  • Accrual analysis pack reporting (quarterly).

  • Assisting in month end close with other EMEA and Group entities

 

Seasonal Activities due to Geneva Sales in April/May and November

  • Manage higher volume of entries.

  • Help with Swiss auditors in May and November.

 

What you’ll bring to the team

 

  • Knowledge of basic accounting required, AAT level 3 and above.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience

  • Experience of processing month end transactions to include accruals and prepayments.

  • Experience of bank reconciliations is essential. 

  • Experience of statutory accounts an advantage.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of the team.

  • Willingness to understand what other teams do and learn how processes affect other teams/departments. 

  • Comfortable interacting with stakeholders in multiple overseas jurisdictions. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • High level of integrity and strong compliance attitude.  

  • Knowledge of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint & Proficient in excel - JDE and Integrity knowledge is desirable. 

  • IT aptitude & work closely with the IT department on any system implementations.
