Position Summary:

The purpose of the Seasonal Assistant Facility Manager position is to direct the operation and oversee public use of developed recreational areas, facilities and programs and possibly supervise seasonal park staff.  The Seasonal Assistant Facility Manager position has several potential roles including: Athletic Park Oversight, Buildings & Events, Campground Oversight, Fee Collection/Tabulation/Compliance, Sports Complex Oversight, etc. This work is performed under the direction of various managers as dictated by season, service, events and departmental program needs.  This position reports to Park Operations Manager. 

Hours of work will include weekends, evenings, and holidays.  Hours will vary based on candidate availability, department needs, and weather.

Examples of Work Performed:

The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.

  • Directs the operation and oversees public use of developed recreational areas, facilities and programs and may supervise seasonal park staff.

  • Assists the public in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Provides information regarding facilities and setup; events and staff; provides tours to interested groups; supervises the rental use of park buildings; is the first point of contact for the facility user.

  • Inspects park grounds and structures for cleanliness, safety, and state of repair and reports needs to operations manager.

  • Open and close facilities according to established policies.

  • May set up facilities for special events or rental groups.

  • May collect fees and receipts for: bike trails, boat launches. building rentals, campgrounds, cross country ski, ice rental, tubing hill, winter storage, and manage weekly deposits.

  • May check for compliance of pass and fees area and issue violations notices as needed; communicate problems or issues clearly with Operations Manager(s) and law enforcement.

  • Responds to inquiries and answers questions from the public and staff regarding park use and policy; provides information and referrals to other staff; responds to and resolves complaints and concerns.

  • Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets County standards.

  • Experience in customer service, buildings and grounds maintenance work desirable. Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance activities and processes preferred.

  • Previous experience with vehicles and equipment such as half-ton and gold carts, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public, enforcing park rules, resolving problems, and providing information.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, and to apply facts and principals for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.

  • Skill in operating vehicles and equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.  Examples include half-ton pickup trucks and golf carts.

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

  • Skill in keeping timely, accurate records related to fee collections, work tasks, etc.

  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability to follow safety rules.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with park users, coworkers, and supervisor.

  • Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.

Compensation:

Starting hourly rate for Assistant Facility Manager is $17.25 year one, $17.50 year two, and $17.75 year three. This is a seasonal position and there are no benefits.
