Assistant Controller

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller is a key financial leader responsible for assisting the Controller with overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions of the organization. The Assistant Controller will lead, implement process improvements, support strategic initiatives, and partner closely with the Controller to drive performance and profitability.

Job Description:

  • Ability to produce, interpret, and communicate financial statements and reports
  • Strong command of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop accounting and finance staff
  • Skilled in assigning responsibilities and ensuring quality outputs from team members
  • Ability to Lead through transformation, such as process improvements, system upgrades, or reorganizations
  • Understands how financial decisions impact broader business goals.
  • Responsible for assisting the Controller with the coordination, preparation and review of monthly financial reporting packages and deliverables, including the consolidated financial statements
  • Assist with oversight and management of all aspects of the accounting function (ex., general ledger, subledger systems, compensation & benefit accounting, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions) for preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
  • Responsible for understanding the flow of transactions of the financial reporting application and the interfacing between systems
  • Ensure reconciliations and journal entries are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Act as a liaison with both external and internal auditors during SOX, quarterly review, and yearend audit testing procedures
  • Develop and improve documented policies and procedures for all accounting operations
  • Enhance existing reporting capabilities and shorten the time required to prepare financial reports and related schedules
  • Oversee/monitor general ledger account reconciliation to ensure the needs of the business are met timely and accurately
  • Pursue proactive process improvements to align with best practices using system knowledge and automation capabilities to redesign business and accounting processes
  • Lead, inspire and train staff and business personnel on new, modified, or existing accounting processes
  • Provide actionable financial insights that inform strategic planning and operations
  • Identify financial and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Assist with design and enforcement of effective controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance

Additional Job Description:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including general ledger close and financial reporting responsibilities required
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to apply accounting standards to complex transactions
  • Experience with external audits and familiarity with tax regulations, SOX/internal controls and related financial policies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (expert-level modeling, analysis, and reporting)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate financial results and concepts for non-financial stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Ability to build collaborative, cross-functional partnerships (e.g. Operations, HR, Legal and IT)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and drive alignment through sound judgment and data-driven recommendations
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect financial insights to business priorities

Pay Range:

$160,500.00 - $240,800.00

The pay range for this position is outlined above. The final amount offered at the start of employment is determined based on factors including, but not limited to, experience level, knowledge, skills, abilities and geographic location, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
