The Opportunities:
This Opportunity will provide support to the Finance function through the investigation and resolution of payment and receipting issues in HAMBS, in collaboration with the Operations team. Contribute to bank reconciliations, accounts payable, commissions and month end processes. Identify and implement process improvements across payments and contributions to enhance accuracy, efficiency and timeliness.
To do this successfully you will:
• Ensure daily bank reconciliations are completed accurately in HAMBS, with timely investigation and resolution of reconciling items, including management of cheques, deposits, direct debits and dishonours
• Support core finance operations including accounts payable, commissions processing and month end activities, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and commissions are processed by the 15th of each month
• Drive continuous improvement across payments and contributions, working with NAB, HAMBS, Vitality and internal stakeholders to address internal audit findings and improve controls and efficiency
• Provide finance support across reporting, compliance and planning activities, including weekly sales and claims reporting, BAS preparation, APRA and Annual Report requirements, budgets and cost centre reporting
• Contribute to finance projects and transformation initiatives, provide ad hoc cover for team members during leave, and collaborate closely with Product, Actuarial, Operations and Management teams
Successful applications will demonstrate:
• Demonstrated experience of approximately one to two years working within private health insurance payments and contributions, with exposure to reconciliations, receipting and payment processes
• Sound working knowledge of HAMBS, including an understanding of end to end payment, contribution and reconciliation processes, or the ability to quickly build capability in this system
• Strong attention to detail with basic to intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to use formulas, reconciliations and simple data analysis to support reporting and investigations
• A proactive and organised approach to work, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a high volume processing environment
• A genuine interest in building a long term career in finance or accounting, with readiness and commitment to commence or continue further study in accounting or finance
