Citi Wealth is seeking a senior fixed income professional to lead the Asia Fixed Income Advisory function within its Global Capital Markets organization. This role is the primary owner of the fixed income narrative for Citi Wealth across the Asia Pacific region — responsible for generating and communicating clear, compelling fixed income strategy, thematic investment ideas, and actionable trade recommendations that help advisors and clients navigate Asian and global fixed income markets with confidence.

The successful candidate will advise clients on their existing fixed income holdings, identify thematic opportunities across Asian and global rates and credit markets, and develop curated lists and frameworks that make fixed income accessible and actionable for both advisors and clients across the region. They will build and grow their own book of active private banking clients through direct coverage while simultaneously serving as the key fixed income resource for Citi Wealth's internal advisor network in Asia.

The Direct to Desk component of this role means the candidate will engage directly with clients — providing real-time fixed income strategy, trade ideas, and implementation guidance in a high-touch, relationship-driven model. The role partners closely with Fixed Income Trading, the Chief Investment Office (CIO), Sales teams, and the Product team to ensure advisory views are grounded in market reality, executable, and supported by a robust product due diligence framework.

In this role, you’re expected to:

Fixed Income Strategy & Idea Generation

  • Own and drive the fixed income investment narrative for Citi Wealth Asia, developing and communicating thematic views, tactical trade ideas, and actionable recommendations across Asian and global rates and credit markets.
  • Advise clients on their existing fixed income holdings, helping them optimize positioning, manage duration and credit risk, and take advantage of thematic and tactical opportunities across Asian and global markets.
  • Develop and maintain curated fixed income lists — including thematic credit ideas, tactical trade recommendations, and market navigation frameworks — that advisors and clients can use to engage with fixed income markets effectively.
  • Partner with the CIO and Fixed Income Trading to ensure advisory content is analytically rigorous, market-aware, and aligned with the firm's broader investment outlook.
  • Clearly formulate and articulate fixed income advice in a manner that is accessible, compelling, and actionable for APAC private wealth clients across varying levels of fixed income sophistication.

Product Due Diligence

  • Own the product due diligence process for fixed income products distributed within Citi Wealth Asia, ensuring all products meet the firm's investment, risk, and regulatory standards prior to distribution.
  • Develop and maintain a robust due diligence framework for fixed income instruments, including structured products, credit instruments, and fund-based fixed income solutions available to APAC clients.
  • Partner with the Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure ongoing monitoring of approved products and timely review of any material changes to product risk profiles.
  • Serve as the senior point of accountability for fixed income product suitability and appropriateness assessments across the Asia region.

Client Coverage & Business Development

  • Build and grow a direct book of active private banking clients across Asia, serving as their primary fixed income advisor and point of contact for fixed income strategy and implementation.
  • Engage directly with clients via the Direct to Desk model, providing real-time market insights, trade ideas, and execution support in coordination with Fixed Income Trading.
  • Partner with Private Bankers, Relationship Managers, and Sales teams across key APAC markets — including Greater China, Southeast Asia, and South Asia — to deepen client relationships and identify new business opportunities.

Advisor Enablement

  • Serve as the go-to fixed income resource for Citi Wealth's internal advisor network in Asia, providing market insights, trade ideas, and client-ready content that advisors can leverage in their own client conversations.
  • Create and deliver high-quality, compelling fixed income content — including written commentary, curated lists, presentations, and live market updates — that drives advisor engagement and client action across the region.
  • Conduct regular internal training sessions, market briefings, and investment forums to elevate the fixed income knowledge and confidence of the advisor community across Asia.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and manage the Asia Fixed Income Advisory team, setting clear expectations, fostering a collaborative culture, and developing talent across the region.
  • Drive a performance-oriented culture focused on business growth, client impact, and intellectual rigor.

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10–12 years of experience in fixed income markets, fixed income research, or advisory roles within a financial institution, private bank, or wealth management platform with significant Asia Pacific exposure.
  • Strong product knowledge across Asian and global rates and credit markets, including Asian investment-grade and high-yield credit, emerging market debt, and government and quasi-sovereign securities. Knowledge of dim sum bonds and other Asia-specific instruments strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with fixed income product due diligence processes, including the assessment of structured products, credit instruments, and fund-based solutions for private wealth distribution.
  • Demonstrated experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth private wealth clients on fixed income strategy and implementation in an Asia Pacific context.
  • Proven ability to clearly formulate and articulate fixed income advice — translating market complexity into clear, actionable guidance for clients and advisors across varying levels of sophistication.
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills — this role requires the ability to command a room, inspire action, and represent Citi Wealth's fixed income franchise across the Asia region.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks across key APAC jurisdictions, including SFC (Hong Kong) and MAS (Singapore) licensing requirements.
  • Relevant regional licenses required (e.g., SFC Type 4 / Type 1 in Hong Kong, or MAS-regulated representative status in Singapore), or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe.
  • Mandarin language proficiency strongly preferred; additional Asian language skills an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Asia Pacific fixed income market expertise across rates and credit
  • Thematic idea generation and tactical trade idea development
  • Fixed income product due diligence and suitability assessment
  • Exceptional client-facing communication and public speaking
  • Advisor enablement and curated content creation
  • Business development and relationship management across APAC
  • Partnership with CIO, Trading, Sales, and Product teams
  • Leadership and talent development in a multi-cultural, multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Regulatory awareness across key APAC jurisdictions
