Area Director, Finance - Americas East
The Area Director of Operations Finance (ADOF) is the finance lead who serves as the conduit between Corporate and the on-property field teams. In collaboration with the Area Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations, the ADOF is accountable for overseeing and driving financial performance within their portfolio of properties. The ADOF is a member of the Performance Leadership Team and is the Operations Finance Subject Matter Expert in overseeing on-property issues that relate to Operational Finance.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Open & Operating Properties
- Engage with VP, Operations Finance and Areas Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations to establish the regional portfolio’s financial and operations performance targets aligned with Corporate Operations Finance objectives, directives or initiatives.
- In collaboration with Area SVP, Hotel Operations and the Performance Leadership Team:
- Review and approve portfolio properties’ annual operating budgets to ensure alignment to performance targets and awareness relative to performance tests or guarantees.
- Monitor and drive portfolio’s financial and operational performance towards targets.
- Monitor compliance to financial best practices, standards, and procedures established by Corporate and relevant legal regulations.
- Triage and prioritization of all day-to-day on-property performance or requests and engage the appropriate PLT or Corporate team members to develop a resolution or escalate to the VP of Operations Finance.
- Oversee operational performance reviews to ensure required action plans are developed to remediate performance issues across the portfolio of properties.
- Manage Owner / Asset Manager expectations on financial performance and on issue escalations.
- Communicate corporate initiatives to the on-property Directors of Finance (in coordination with the VP, Operations Finance) and oversee / provide operational support with rollout of strategic initiatives / projects (i.e., sustainability initiatives, finance and procurement initiatives).
- Collaborate with the ASVP and VP Ops Finance to identify and provide recommendations for improving performance at properties.
- Engage with Regional Directors of Finance and Directors of Finance to monitor progress on coaching, development, and needs of the property.
General Corporate
- Report on overall performance and compliance to Performance Leadership Team.
- Develop proactive financial initiatives that capitalize on business/growth opportunities or minimize/mitigate any potential challenges / operational failures.
- Ongoing interaction and coordination with corporate Operations Finance team.
- Provide input on regional Finance considerations for developing the global Finance strategic roadmaps.
- Assist with the implementation of strategic Operations Finance initiatives within the portfolio of properties.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; concentration preferred in related area (Finance, Accounting, Hospitality Management).
- 10+ years of leadership with increasing responsibility within Operations Finance, with Regional Director of Finance experience.
Who You Are:
- Deep Financial Subject Matter Expertise: Has deep financial and operational business acumen. Expert in financial planning and budgeting, financial analysis, audit and financial reporting processes. Highly knowledgeable in financial and tax laws and regulations, with deep understanding of financial systems and controls.
- Analytical & Data Driven: Highly credible and able to assess and distil analytical information. Excellent financial and commercial acumen with ability to drive data-based decision making throughout the portfolio.
- Strategic Partner: Partners with key corporate functional leaders bring operational opportunities to light, and to solve escalated operational issues.
- Excellent Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Able to explain sometimes complex financial issues and topics to others in a way that is understandable; able to allow others to understand the reasons and drivers behind various strategies and tactics.
- Engaged Team Leader: Provides functional leadership to a team of Regional Directors of Finance and Directors of Finance to deliver financial results while managing multiple priorities in dynamic and ever-changing environment; fosters subject matter expertise, continuous improvement and growth mindset within the team. Builder of strong working relationships among people across multiple areas of the company.
This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Miami Four Seasons Corporate Office (3 days per week) located at 1441 Brickell Avenue, Suite 1007, Miami, Florida. #LI-Hybrid
