Role summary 

Alegeus seeks an Architect to join the Consumer Directed Healthcare applications team. This role is responsible for designing secure, scalable and cost-effective distributed software solutions that support product growth, client needs and platform modernization. The architect will work closely with engineering, product management, quality assurance and professional services to define solution architecture and guide implementation. 

Key responsibilities 

Architecture & System Design 

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance applications  

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices  

  • Contribute to system design, architecture, and technical decisions  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Product, DevOps, US stakeholders)  

  • Ensure security, compliance, and data protection in all applications  

  • Build and deploy applications in Azure cloud environments  

  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues  

  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices  

  • Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies 

Application & Platform Engineering 

  • Contribute to the development of distributed software solutions in partnership with development teams. 

  • Provide technical guidance on best practices, architecture choices and relevant technology trends. 

  • Create delivery estimates and infrastructure cost models based on the solution design. 

  • Work closely with development teams to support implementation and deployment. 

  • Coordinate with geographically distributed teams. 

  • Participate in the development process using Agile Architecture principles in SAFe. 

  • Take part in the production on-call rotation. 

Collaboration & Leadership 

  • Work closely with product management, engineering, quality assurance and professional services teams. 

  • Help align architecture decisions with product and customer needs. 

  • Guide teams on architectural standards, solution direction and engineering best practices. 

  • Support company growth by expanding functional and technical capabilities across product lines. 

Required qualifications (Hard Requirement) 

  • Ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment. 

  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in software development and application design, with at least 2+ years in an Architect or senior technical leadership role on large-scale SaaS platforms  

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft .NET platform, building and delivering scalable, high-performance enterprise applications using microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and distributed system design patterns  

  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS acceptable)  

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, relational and NoSQL databases, and designing systems for scalability, reliability, and performance  

  • Having experience IAM using OAuth 2.1, OpenID Connect, and modern token-based authentication.  

  • Experience integrating with Azure AD/Entra ID, IdentityServer, and providers like Okta/Auth0.  

  • Strong in implementing RBAC, ABAC, and policy-based authorization, along with identity governance (MFA, conditional access, privileged access).  

  • Proficient in securing APIs through API gateways, rate limiting, schema validation, and WAF policies. Ensures secure service-to-service communication using mTLS, short-lived tokens, and Zero Trust principles and adherence to OWASP Top 10 and secure SDLC practices 

  • Experience ensuring data protection and compliance, including encryption in transit and at rest, data masking/anonymization, and securing sensitive data (e.g., PHI), storage, and backups  

  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/SDLC) with excellent analytical, troubleshooting, prioritization, and communication skills, and ability to work effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional, global environments 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience  

  • Knowledge of additional cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is a plus  

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer, Kubernetes, or cloud certifications) are a plus  

  • Experience in the healthcare domain, including familiarity with HIPAA, HL7, or FHIR standards, is preferred 

  • Experience working in product-based or SaaS organizations  

  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices and security-focused engineering  

  • Experience with event-driven architecture or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka)  

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
