Bietigheim-Bissingen Full time

Valeo is a tech global company, designing breakthrough solutions to reinvent the mobility. We are an automotive supplier partner to automakers and new mobility actors worldwide. Our vision? Invent a greener and more secured mobility, thanks to solutions focusing on intuitive driving and reducing CO2 emissions. We are leader on our businesses, and recognized as one of the largest global innovative companies.

Would you like to shape the future of intelligent mobility together with us? Become part of our VALEO team and revolutionize the experience of autonomous and connected driving.

We are looking for YOU as Application Engineer Radar (m/w/d) - Product Line Detect for our location in Bietigheim.

These challenges await you:

  • USP Innovation & Strategy: Drive the technical roadmap for radar-based parking functions to maintain Valeo’s competitive advantage, focusing on high-resolution near-field sensing and ultra-short-range detection.

  • Function Design for OIT: Develop and optimize "Detect OIT" algorithms, ensuring high-confidence detection of small obstacles (curbs, bollards, thin poles) and static object classification in complex parking environments.

  • Point Cloud Optimization: Define requirements for radar point cloud density and accuracy to support advanced parking features such as Automated Parking Assist (APA) and Maneuvering Coordination.

  • Customer RFQ Leadership: Act as the lead technical expert during "Detect OIT" tender phases, demonstrating Valeo’s superior parking performance to OEMs through technical presentations and live vehicle demos.

  • Cross-Functional Fusion: Collaborate with the Ultrasonic and Vision teams to define radar’s role in multi-sensor fusion architectures for next-generation automated parking.

  • Performance Benchmarking: Systematically analyze competitor parking solutions to identify gaps and ensure Valeo’s algorithms remain the industry benchmark for low-speed maneuvering.

You inspire us with that:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Radar Systems Expertise: Strong understanding of radar system performance, specifically regarding near-field challenges, multipath reflections in urban/indoor environments, and high-resolution processing.

  • Parking Function Knowledge: Proven experience in developing low-speed ADAS functions (e.g., Park Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking for Pedestrians/Rear).

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for processing large datasets from vehicle parking maneuvers and extracting performance KPIs.

  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to translate customer "pain points" in parking scenarios into technical radar specifications.
