Application Architect

The Application Architect defines application design patterns, modularity, system structure, and technical design standards to ensure solutions are scalable and maintainable. This impactful role will be critical in providing the application-layer blueprint for how Accordion's software should be built.

This position will ideally be based in one of our US offices and is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week (also eligible for remote candidates).

What You’ll Do:

Architecture Standards

  • Define application architecture patterns, reference designs, and engineering standards
  • Review major solution designs to ensure scalability, maintainability, and alignment to target-state principles
  • Guide teams on modularity, APIs, service boundaries, and reusable components

 Design Leadership

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Solution Architecture on target-state design decisions
  • Contribute to roadmap planning by identifying architectural dependencies and technical investment needs
  • Evaluate tradeoffs between speed, reuse, and long-term maintainability

Quality & Enablement

  • Mentor engineering teams on design quality and architecture best practices
  • Support code review and design review processes for high-impact initiatives
  • Document and evolve application standards as the portfolio grows

You Have:

  • 8+ years of software architecture or senior application engineering experience
  • Expertise as a systems thinker, with a deep understanding of APIs, modular applications, integration patterns, and scalable system design
  • Ability to communicate architecture concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortability influencing without becoming a bottleneck – you are practical and collaborative but able to balance ideal-state architecture with business needs
  • Consistent commitment to reuse, clarity, and technical quality
  • Experience in cloud-based and enterprise application environments
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic

  • Able to effectively communicate complex issues and solutions, and raise issues to senior team members when necessary
  • A team player, able to work with team members across all levels
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring others and doing meaningful work
  • A leader of others; you lead by example

The annual salary for this role ranges from: $175,000 to $230,000 + benefits + bonus.

Actual compensation packages are determined by evaluating a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, years and depth of experience, education, certifications, cost of labor and internal equity.
