Purpose of the Role:

The role of APAC Value Added Services (VAS) product lead has the autonomy and support to execute the VAS product vision across APAC. This role is accountable to set the tone for strong working relationships with internal teams and external customers and partners, defining the APAC VAS solutions and product roadmap and leading the team to deliver. A crucial leadership position in the APAC product team, that acts as the intersection between GP customers, country and region leads, technology teams, finance and third party vendors. 

To bring this role to life requires the skills and understanding of all elements of the product life cycle; leadership, working with country leads and marketing to map market research (identifying trends and recommending new product opportunities), defining the product strategy, working with technology teams to deliver and complete ongoing analysis of product commercialisation and performance. 

Responsibilities:

Product domain: Value Added Services 

  • Deep VAS Expertise – Strong understanding of VAS product sets (e.g., instalments, loyalty, marketing, reporting, inventory tools) and hands‑on experience taking VAS from concept to market across international regions.

  • Market‑ and Customer‑Informed Product Decisions – Uses competitive intelligence and customer insights to shape product enhancements, prioritise investments, and adapt global capabilities for APAC needs.

  • Technical & Platform Integration Capability – Translates business needs into technical requirements and works closely with platform/engineering teams to leverage shared codebases and API‑first architectures, ensuring clean VAS integrations and scalable localisation.

Leadership

  • Cross‑Cultural & Regional Leadership – Demonstrated ability to motivate, align, and develop cross‑functional teams across diverse APAC markets.

  • Adaptive Communication & Trust Building – Skilled in adjusting communication and decision styles to cultural contexts, building trust and psychological safety across distributed teams.

  • Execution Across Time Zones – Proven ability to lead teams across multiple time zones, balancing strategic direction with operational delivery and establishing/aligning to ways of working for consistent execution.

Product strategy and thought leadership

  • Domain SME and strategic Voice – Acts as the VAS SME, leading partner conversations and shaping the APAC product strategy to represent current and future customer needs.

  • Evidence‑based product discovery – Applies customer research techniques (interviews, observation, workshops, prototyping) to define the right problems and features.

  • Global–local product alignment – Understands the payments competitive landscape and works with International Product to bring best‑in‑class global solutions into APAC and export APAC innovation where relevant.

Product discipline and ways of working

  • Roadmapping and prioritisation leadership – Leads roadmap planning, backlog prioritisation, and creation of clear product briefs across regional teams.

  • Cross‑functional delivery excellence – Drives well‑structured product development with agile teams across regions and leads design workshops to align stakeholders on solutions.

  • Lifecycle, GTM and change leadership – Owns full lifecycle management (including end‑of‑life), leads go‑to‑market planning, and drives effective change management across internal teams.

Target state architecture

  • TAM (Target Architecture Model) and process design – Partners with International Product to develop TAM and consolidate target‑state processes for the VAS domain.

  • Vendor strategy and architecture fit – Conducts strategic vendor reviews, ensuring commercial and architectural alignment with TAM and long‑term product needs.

  • Ownership of domain architecture – Defines product placement, resolves product issues decisively, and manages third‑party vendor relationships across the value chain.

Drive commercial outcomes

  • Client‑First commercial mindset – Leads the domain with a customer‑centric and commercially strategic approach.

  • Business case and financial impact – Works with sales and finance to build business cases, secure funding, and optimise product profitability across APAC.

  • Performance, pricing and enablement – Partners with product operations, finance, marketing, and sales to monitor performance, shape pricing strategies, and develop sales/customer assets to drive adoption.

Experience and Expertise 

  • 10+ years’ senior product management experience, delivering end‑to‑end product design, development, and lifecycle management within software or hardware‑enabled technology businesses, ideally in payments, banking, or fintech.

  • Proven people leadership, managing and developing teams of up to seven, with a people‑first mindset that fosters high performance and strong collaboration.

  • Customer‑obsessed with a track record of delivering scalable, high‑quality products, consistently representing the voice of the customer and improving end‑to‑end experiences.

  • Strategic thinker and clear communicator, able to articulate the product vision, influence stakeholders, and bring the business on the journey.

  • Resilient with a growth mindset, driving continuous improvement and adapting to fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.

  • Strong collaborator, skilled at uniting cross‑functional teams and prioritising solutions that maximise customer and commercial value.

  • Commercially astute, able to analyse product profitability, build business cases, and make informed roadmap trade‑offs.

  • Effective multi‑project operator, capable of maintaining momentum across multiple initiatives and delivering consistently against roadmap commitments.

  • Experienced working in global or matrixed organisations, demonstrating values of Passion, Care, Accountability, Excellence, and Ingenuity, and building strong internal/external relationships.

  • APAC experience (preferred) — understanding of regional payment requirements and agile delivery practices, with project management capability considered advantageous.
