Job Description
This exciting and challenging opportunity exists within Group Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Office for someone who is passionate about AML Compliance. This role centers on the responsibilities of section 42 of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act No 38 of 2001, as amended.Key Result Areas / Outputs:
Provide day to day AML guidance to business on the application of the FIC Act, RMCP and internal procedures.
Maintain and update AML procedures to ensure they remain aligned to regulatory requirements and internal frameworks.
Support consistent interpretation and application of AML controls across business units.
Assist with tracking and monitoring of remediation actions arising from audits, inspections and internal reviews.
Support preparation of regulatory submissions and ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
Compile and coordinate evidence for regulatory inspections and internal audits.
Provide guidance on sanctions, PEP and adverse media related matters in line with internal standards.
Monitor compliance related queries and ensure timely responses and appropriate escalation where required.
Support AML training initiatives and assist in reinforcing awareness of compliance obligations within the business.
Contribute to continuous improvement of AML processes by identifying control weaknesses and practical enhancements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Matric/ Grade 12
Certificate in Anti Money Laundering and Compliance Management
Degree in (or studying towards) Compliance, Legal, Commerce and/or Risk Management, advantageous
Experience:
Good knowledge of the following legislation, essential: Financial Intelligence Centre Amendment Act, Protection of Constitutional Democracy and Terrorist and Related activities Act, Prevention of Organized Crime Act and related regulations
1 to 3 years’ experience in AML, compliance or regulatory environment.
Exposure to the FIC Act and related AML regulatory requirements.
Experience working in a financial services environment is preferred.
Understanding of customer due diligence, sanctions screening and PEP requirements.
Exposure to compliance monitoring tools, case management systems or alert management systems is beneficial.
Experience preparing reports, tracking remediation actions or maintaining compliance documentation.
Demonstrated ability to engage with business stakeholders and provide practical guidance.
