Team mission
The Discovery Analytics team acts as the compass for how travelers find and choose experiences on GetYourGuide. We answer the fundamental questions that shape our roadmaps: What specific behaviors signal high-intent and decision confidence? What are the causal drivers that turn a search session into a conversion? Where do gaps in our relevance or UX create friction, and where will our next investment unlock the most value for the customer?
Our team builds the analytics foundation, metrics, and frameworks that empower Product and Engineering to deliver the most intuitive, relevant, and trustworthy discovery experience in travel. We translate complex user behavior into actionable insights that drive the roadmap for Search, Ranking, and Comparison—ensuring every traveler finds the right experience at the moment it counts.
Your mission
- Lead and elevate a high-performing team: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of 4 Data Analysts. You will foster a culture of technical excellence and commercial impact, helping your team translate complex data into compelling narratives that drive action.
- Decode user intent to shape the roadmap: Empower your team to decode user intent and "feature usage." You will guide them to identify which behaviors (e.g., comparing, filtering) drive value, and then translate their findings into high-level strategic recommendations that convince Product leadership where to invest next.
- Shape product strategy with data: Help shape the culture of our product teams to be data-driven, and guide strategy by answering the critical questions
- Build measurement systems from scratch: Create the metrics, frameworks, and primitives
- Influence at the executive level: Translate complex analyses into crisp, strategic recommendations that shape resource allocation, product roadmaps, and business priorities across the Supply organization
- Partner across Product, Engineering, and design: Work directly with senior leaders to align analytics work with business impact, balancing competing priorities and driving proactive, strategic insights
- Stay hands-on when it matters: Be curious and go hands-on, developing your own analytical insights, turning that into action and recommendation, and reviewing analyses to set a high bar for excellence
- Mature analytics best practices: Partner with your peers to establish frameworks, processes, and standards that elevate how GetYourGuide uses data across the company
Your toolkit
- People leadership: Proven experience directly managing and developing high-performing data analysts or scientists. You have a history of hiring, mentoring, and elevating your team’s technical and commercial skills.
- Discovery & Marketplace Expertise: Deep understanding of e-commerce or marketplace dynamics, specifically in Search, Ranking, or Personalization. You understand how to measure relevance, liquidity, and the trade-offs between short-term conversion and long-term retention.
- Strategic partnership: You’ve shaped roadmaps, influenced resource allocation, and built measurement frameworks that change how businesses make decisions - not just reported on them.
- Hands-on technical fluency: You’re a hands-on leader proficient with SQL, experimentation design, metric definition, and strategic analytics. You can review a complex analysis, spot the flaw, and jump into the data as needed. You know how to delegate and run a scaled team - but you enjoy going hands-on and will use your skills to up-level the team
- Influence executives: You translate complex analyses into crisp recommendations. You know when to push back on ideas and when to say “we don’t know yet, but here’s how we’ll find out.”
